CCertRequest::Submit Error
by Guest AlexDrenea- 0 replies

Hello, I am trying to send a Certificate request with ICertRequest class. When I try to send it from my ASP.NET application I always receive : "CCertRequest::Submit The parameter is incorrect. 0x80070057 (WIN32: 87)". I copied the function I use to do this in a desktop application and it works fine ( The parameters I send in the Submit method are IDENTICAL). The request is send and certificate issued. The default Web Enrollment pages that come with CA Services are working fine and I do not see any difference when comparing to my web application. Can anyone give me a piece of advice on how to solve this? Other details : The web application is deploy…

passwords on laptop and files
by Guest Fox- 8 replies

I'm using windows vista home premium on my new laptop. I would like to know how to put a password on the laptop itself so nobody can even go on friend without me putting it in. I would also like to know how to put a password on a specific folder in my user account so if anybody 'happened' to figure out my laptop password and my user profile password, they wouldn't be able to get into this file. I don't know why I'm such a protection freak, but thank-you in advance for anybody who helps me.

secure lockdown of terminal server liscencing?
by Guest TonyZeigler- 2 replies
- 549 views
I have two domains that I want to keep separate. However, I do have a need to have one machine on one of the domains access the liscence server for TS on the other. Unfortunately, all the config screens for the liscence server management want me to specify a server on a trusted domain. Given that I'm a complete newb when it comes to trusting domains, I am hopefully overworried about security implications of trusting them? Can anyone describe how to trust the two domains to limit the trust to servicing just the liscence server service?

Windows ME securing files with a password
by Guest Birdman- 3 replies
- 632 views
Using windows me. I've put my name in as a new user and on startup the computer correctly asks me for my password. And when the password is entered, the computer correctly finishes booting up. The problem is, if I click on cancel when prompted for the password, the computer boots up with, I assume, me as a guest, and I still have full access to the computer. And this leaves me wondering what's the purpose of setting a username and password. What I'd like to do is set a global password. When the computer boots up it would say something like "What's the password?" If the password is not given the computer is not accessable. Or another idea is i…

Protection Against Hackers
by Guest Sacha Vieux-Roy- 4 replies

I have good reason to believe that a hacker in my company hacked windows vista ultimate and changed the security settings of my USB hard drive. I have been working flawlessly for over 2 month with my USB hard drive. After receiving a threat from a hacker, I was no longer able to move files on my USB hard drive and my Visual Studio Key of my VB project stopped working. Is there a way for a VB.Net client to SQL Server 2005 to authenticate itself to SQL Server using a certificate, thereby garanteeing that only that application can connect to SQL Server 2005? I need to protect my Windows Vista Ultimate server & SQL Server 2005 from hackers. What c…

NTFS Security path depth > 256 chars
by Guest Frederik De Muyter- 2 replies

Hi, I have a couple of questions on setting up NTFS security. First when a user creates a directory under a folder I share, he is the owner of the folder and can remove admins form the ntfs security. Can i stop this and how. Second i'm having troubles setting NTFS security on files or folders that exceed a depth of 256 characters. I simply get access denied. Can i changes this? Third is ther a way to propegate permissions to sub directory's even if i don't have ownership on the folder. I hope my questions are clear and if not i'm alway willing to elaborate on them. Kind regards, Frederik De Muyter.
