The fix worked really well for me... thanks everybody! One more question... is there a way to stop Aero from turning off? After every few times I restard, Aero has turned off and I have to go through this procedure again. Is this a known problem with a fix? Thanks... Vista Virtualization - Business and Ultimate Only????
by Guest The Computer Dood- 2 replies

I read a tech article, stating that Vista can only be virtualized on the Business and Ultimate (> $300) packages. They make an excuse about security being the reason, but the analysts think it is so that people will not virtualize Vista on MAC AND LINUX boxes, and use the Windows 10% of the time. I have the Business Vista (got it from upgrades to Dell boxes $10.00), and it works fine...although it is a pig (Memory Hog). So MS is holding on to their marketshare by their fingernails, putting more FUD out there, saying that we are unsecure. My firewall say differently, so I will continue to virtualize at will. It is too bad that the "FLAGSHIP" produ…

After adding a new photo folder I get the message "The following folder cannot be found - C:\ A-EG Group" and "find the folder" or Remove the folder" "Cancel" and before I can click on anything freezes and goes to the MESSAGE: "Photo Gallery Has Stopped Working". When I click to send "Send Information and Close Program" nothing happens - even after five minutes. Is there anything soft of totally restoring my system that can be done? Everything else is working perfectly and I hate to mess up a good thing. Thanks

Issue with Not printing in IE7, using ccCleaner - Revisited
by Guest Fyvush Finkel- 0 replies

There was a post back in the middle of June, and I'll cut and paste the contents. The question I have is that I have the TEMP directory on the C: drive. I have changed the environment variables TMP and TEMP to point to C:\TEMP. Within the Temp directory I have created a LOW directory as suggested. I still can't print from IE7. Questions: Do I need to create the low file in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp\Low when I have the environment variables pointing to C:\TEMP ? Do I need to run the following command as entered here or can I run it on the C:\TEMP\LOW directory? icacls C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\Low /setintegritylevel (OI)(C…

nvstor.sys and blue screen of death
by Guest soadchik- 0 replies

Okay. I installed an update this past thurs or friday, June 28/29.. This included an update to nVidia. I use my computer as a Media Center PC hooked up to my TV... Well I went out of town and turned the computer off. I did not notice any problems. Sunday, I noticed that the computer shut off on it's own while I was out of the room. It did not shut down. Just completely shut off. Well I restarted and everything was fine until tonight. While using Media Center, the blue screen of death came up and said a ton of stuff that I couldn't read except nvstor.sys... I restart the computer and everything seems fine.. then 15 mins later... the same thing h…

Hello there I Would like to know once a service patch becomes available. This, so that I can redress the following: Run all my hardware items such as my printers, scanner and external drives. Redress password issues in the word processor that I am using. Any relevant feedback will help to ensure the smooth changeover to this program with as fewer issues as possible.* Thanks Michael *Operating system that I'm using right now is 'Windows XP Home edition.' How can I give a service administrator privileges in Vista
by Guest no_spam_paquette@uwo.ca- 1 reply

Whenever I try to write from Vista to a folder on the XP partition I get an access-denied error. Now I wouldn't have been surprised atproblems writing from XP to folders on the Vista system partition (although I haven't tried that yet and I have no problem accessing Vista folders (not junction points) by network shares from other machines running XP). I've discovered that for an application to write from Vista to any of the folders on the XP partition it must be logged on as Administrator in Vista. If I start any application explicitly as administrator in Vista, it can then write to folders there. My problem is I want to give MirrorFolder service administra…

And sidebar gadget that hooks into Windows Calendar?
by Guest Yeff- 1 reply
I like Windows Calendar but I also like being able to glance at the screen at any time to see what's coming up. With Windows XP I accomplished that with a very nice program called Rainlendar: <http://www.rainlendar.net/cms/index.php>. I used DesktopCoral to keep that side of the desktop from being overwritten: <http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/desktopcoral/index.html> I really like Windows Calendar but dislike having to run it all the time to see what's coming up for me. An ideal solution would be a gadget that hooks into the Windows Calendar to show what's happening all the time. Even better, since you can subscribe to a Google …

offline synch not working
by Guest e-John- 0 replies

I have a problem with offline folder synchronization, which worked under XP, and is not working with Vista. My network folder is on a network server in a SBS2003 domain. No problems accessing the folder and its documents. When I enable offline sychroniztion, I get hundreds of error messages (one for each file) in the Synch Results panel, saying, "the system cannot fine the path specified," and no synchronization occurs. Huh? Not sure what to do, as I can find the path without any problem. Thoughts ?

adding fax to Vista Home Premium from Vista Business?
by Guest pspring- 1 reply
Hi, I've just bought a laptop with Vista Home Premium installed, so I don't have the actual installation disks for Vista Home Premium, just a Recovery Partition on my laptop that supposedly contains it. My boss is buying the installation CD's for Vista Business, and he'd like us to install that if we use our laptops for work, as I do. But Vista Business doesn't include Media Center, which is something I really use on my laptop. Is it possible, using the installation cd's for Vista Business, to selectively just add the components I need (like Fax Center) to my Vista Home Premium installation? Or do I need to do a full install of Vista Business whi…
