Closing a 30 pixel gap between native and web
by Guest Microsoft Edge Team- 0 replies

We talk a lot about Progressive Web Apps (PWA) in the context of mobile devices, but they have an enormous potential on desktop operating systems that's only beginning to materialize. Recently, with many new web capabilities in the Chromium browser engine and UX changes in Microsoft Edge and on Windows, installed desktop web apps are really starting to look and feel like native apps. One remaining gap in how web apps appear on desktop is their ability to create their own title bar experiences. While native apps have been able to display content anywhere in the app window, including in the title bar, installed web apps have been forced to go with the default experience, ma…

by Guest Microsoft Edge Team- 0 replies
Today we're announcing support in Microsoft Edge, and Chromium browsers, for SVG files in the Async Clipboard API. This means copying and pasting SVG data across any app that wants to use SVG, whether it's native or web, is now possible. SVG images are a great option for rendering high-quality visuals and graphics on the web. They're space efficient and the image quality isn't affected when resizing the image. But, when it comes to handling SVG image formats in apps, the story is a bit different. Native apps designed to support SVG files work with them seamlessly. For instance, you can copy an SVG file from the Windows explorer and paste it into Microsoft PowerPoint, or …

At Build 2023, we announced that Windows Terminal users will be able to take advantage of natural language AI to recommend commands, explain errors and take actions within Windows Terminal. Since then, we have been listening to customer feedback and iterating on our AI chat experiments in Windows Terminal. The Windows Terminal team is committed to transparency, and we want to give the open-source community an opportunity to help us define what AI looks like in a terminal application.
