Lock screen picture doesn't change anymore
by Guest TroyD27- 0 replies
My lock screen picture does not change anymore. Many others have this problem as well (Google search). A variety of fixes are suggested but most seem to involve messing with folder contents and even changing Registry entries. I am not comfortable with that. Online, the simplest suggested fix I have found is: In Personalization->Lock Screen settings change Background to Picture. Delete everything from folder C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_<somecharacters>\Settings In Personalization->Lock Screen settings change Background back to Windows Spotlight First, if this is a consistent probl…

Incorrect reading of content contained in a folder
by Guest Knutti.- 0 replies
Hey. I have a folder named "S" on my internal hard-drive. In the folder's properties it lists 628GB of used storage, and 6000 files. This is an incorrect reading of the amount of files and storage that the folder actually contains. I have several sub-folders located inside this "S"-folder, and when I mark all of them and click on properties, the real amount of storage and files are listed (which is 979GB of used storage, and 40028 files). (These 2 different readings are shown in the picture below.) Question: What is the cause of this incorrect reading? The reading has never been incorrect before. It suddenly started reading the folder incorrectly ou…

by Guest mayumer- 0 replies

Similarly to the question in Change Sign in Screen background it seems that this is still not fixed. Despite having the settings below, the following happens in these scenarios: Booting up -> some old spotlight picture on sign in screen ❌ Logging off -> some old spotlight picture on sign in screen ❌ Locking PC manually (i.e. pressing Winkey+L) -> my custom image is shown✅ Continue reading...

by Guest almightythor- 0 replies

Hello, Yesterday my laptop downloaded and installed some updates. Today, my laptop no longer automatically switches to headphones when they are plugged in, and no longer automatically switches back to the installed speakers when they are unplugged. I attempted disabling, updating, and uninstalling the audio drivers, and no change. I can manually select between headphones and speakers, but do not wish to keep having to do so. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Continue reading...

This is an additional query to a similar one left by another user and the Community response was to insert a Desktop Folder into systemprofile. I have a black screen with only Recycle Bin Icon displayed. Using Task Manager to try to open windows Explorer results in the following message: "explorer.exe An attempt was made to reference a token that does not exist" followed by another similar message referring to Shell::::{52205fd8-5dfb-447d-801a-d0b52f2e83e1} I can see all the folders via Task Manager but most applications are giving similar messages. No Sound No Wifi Cannot access System Restore or Windows Rollback. The only thing I have managed …

After installing the most recent forced update on May 21, 2018, I have lost all of my programs and documents. The start button does not work. I have lost all of my icons save for "Recycle Bin". Nothing on the task bar works. I have no way to connect to the internet. My PC has in effect been returned to a state of having just left the factory, but with the operating system only partially installed. Thanks, Microsoft. Continue reading...

I have an all-in-one mini PC with a built-in webcam listed under the device manager as Camera Sensor Unicam ov2680. If I log in to the machine from the local console, and start the Camera application I can record video and take pictures without a problem. Everything works fine. If I RDP into the machine, I can start the camera application and take pictures without a problem. If I attempt to record a video, I get the following error message: Something went wrong Sorry, we weren't able to save the video. If you need it, here's the error code: 0XA00F415D<VideoCaptureStartFailed> (0x80131500) * I have tried uninstalling and re-installing t…

Touchpad cursor inertia
by Guest Thanatica- 0 replies
Just to be absolutely clear: this question is NOT about scroll inertia. I'd like to know how I can enable inertia on the movement of the cursor. So I can flick the cursor into a direction and it keeps on going for a bit. One of my previous laptops had this; I think it came as a feature in the Synaptics drivers, but that was on Windows 7 which didn't have immersive settings for touchpads. So now that we have Windows 10 (and still a Synaptics touchpad), how can get to this feature? And before you ask: which make & model laptop I have should be irrelevant. I want everyone to have the option to enable or disable this. With such fine-grained control over …

by Guest HoltDT- 0 replies

Hello there, i recently preordered State of Decay 2 through the Microsoft store and attempted to download the game ready for release. I was almost immediately met with an message saying error 0x80073CF9, I googled this and created a AUInstallAgent folder and tried again, no luck, I tried logging out and in, uninstalling windows store and reinstalling, typing wsreset into run, changing permissions on folders, updating my PC to the latest windows update and even a complete reinstall of Windows 10 to no avail. The weird thing was this was only for State of Decay 2, all other apps download or update fine, theres something about State of Decay 2 thats causing this bu…
