After doing a repair install of my Windows XP PRO /SP3, I tried to upgrade to Windows Media Player 11. It keeps failing and says that I need to restart my computer. This also happened with Internet Explorer 8. The message I get was "Windows Internet Explorer cannot install because another program or update is waiting to restart your computer. Restart your computer and run this setup again." I have repeatedly restarted my computer.MS Updates don't download and install, even after Fix It and after downloadin a new Windows Update Agent 3.0 (which did download AND install). Hi, I've got Windows Vista on my PC, I recently downloaded and installed updates. After when they install my PC ask me to restarts, when I do that's all I get up to Step 2 of 3. My PC restarts is self, the BIOS boots but Windows doesn't that's all I see is is red lines in the top left corner of my screen. What's wrong with my PC can you help me please. Windows 8 has been nothing but trouble since I got my computer for Christmas. It tells me I need to install the &quotwindows update&quot but won't even let me change the settings for updates. Windows Update on Windows 8 never completes downloading with any of the updates, even for small updates. I've tried 1. changing startup options and disabling all non microsoft services. 2. I recently bought a Sony VAIO E Series laptop with Windows 8 loaded on it.Everything was working fine till today when it asked me to restart my computer to perform an update. I did just as it said, and the update was being installed. I downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials and other things to get my PC ready for the Windows XP sp2 updating to sp3. Now I am done with the update and wanted to remove the Microsoft Security Essentials so that I can install McAfee. But It could not be removed. I had to do a system recovery on my windows xp sp2 media center edition..now on my recovery disc it says 2005 but, on my system information it says 2002, I have a ACPI Multiprocessor PC.
