I updated from windows 7 and to 8 and everything looks pretty but slow. the worst part is it knocked out my internet connection. something to do with the fire wall. of course with no internet i can get the firewall to do anything. I am just so mad that windows is so difficult to work with at times. you see so many other operating systems just work. well if anyone else has these problems let me know. View this thread

Why won't the sp3 cab files install? W/o them windows update won't work along with other services. During a windows xp reinstall the log said "cab files could not be trusted"? Is there a trick to get sp 3 installed on windows xp?? I have 64 uninstalled updates with error codes since the reinstall. They all link back to not having SP3 installed. Windows updater will download all the updates but when it reboots to install the updates it always fails at 15%. I thought maybe it could have been the device drivers so i attemted to upadte them all but i still have the same problem. If SOme one could help me i would really aprreaciate it. I upgraded my system from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro two days back. Since the time I installed it, I am facing problem with Windows Updates. I am running win7, 64 bit version. I cannot download/install service pack 1. When I use auto windows update, all the other upgrades will install except for the service pack. When I first attempted to install, a box would state that 53% of 87.2 mb had downloaded and when it would just start to try to install, an error message would pop-up, stating it didn't install (error # 80004005). I have had a strange issue starting about 4-5 days ago. My system will restart while swapping windows with alt+tab or if i go from one monitor to the other.I have run several stress tests on the hardware to rule out hardware failure (everything came back with flying colors) swapped my new ssd (had it up and running for about a month) with an old HDD and the problem was repeatable. I've installed Windows 8 from DVD packed with new laptop. After that, checked windows updates. It said, around 35 important updates are to be installed in size of 500MB. After installing all updates free disk space decreased 5GB! It's too much, I think. I've run disk cleanup cleaning unnecessaty update files but only few hundred MBs were released.
