I have my work laptop set up to automatically download and install Microsoft Operating System changes. On Wednesday, April 24th, when I attempted to work on it, I found that had rebooted. When I tried to start Outlook, it prompted me to set up accounts. When I started Word and Excel, all the files I'd pinned to the "Recents" list were gone. All of my custom settings, Normal.doc, everything associated with all of my office products were gone! Even Internet Explorer acted as if it was a first time use. Today, I finally had time to look into this. I found that it had installed KB284019 at 3:00am (when it was scheduled to check for updates). FORTUNATELY, there was …

I've got both the XP and Windows 7 O.S.s installed on my HP Notebook. Out of the several, essential, "regular Ms. Windows Updates" I need, I seem not to successfully get those meant for Silverlight anymore.... The Silverlight-Windows-Update itself won't "successfully install". I 'd really be glad when and if The ":adorable" Microsoft Community "troubleshoot" this... and similar... problems... I obviously will or would encounter on the way to my "computer literacy and expert-knowledge"!!!! View this thread

I have a DELL Inspiron 1318 Laptop running Win7 Home Premium, 64 bit. I installed Win7 in Jan 2012. The Windows Update tool in Control Panel worked fine until Mar 2nd, 2013. On that day seven updates for Win7 were downloaded and installed and seventeen updates for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 were also downloaded and installed. Since then Windows Update has not been downloading anything. When I click on "Check for Updates" I get error code 8024800A. The link associated with this error code is not helpful. I'm certain my internet connection is functioning. The Firewall on my Laptop is not turned on. However there is a Firewall on the AT&T Gateway in my home from…

A couple of weeks ago I installed a program that must install a component of SQL Server 2005. I quickly uninstalled the program because I didn't like it. Ever since then, the Windows update service keeps asking me to install an update called "Security Update for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3" Of course it fails every time because SQL Server 2005 is not installed. Every day Windows keeps asking me to install this update and every time I install it, it fails. How can I get Windows to stop asking to install this update? View this thread

When I let my Acer Aspire 7750G (6GB Ram, Intel i7-2630QM) go into sleepmode and then wish to restart it gets stuck on the screen right after the log in "starting windows". This has only occured in the last few days. Perhaps something to do with the latest update? This problem does not occure when i let it hibernate. Sincerely Jeroen. View this thread

Hello, I am tired, I have not received any windows update since April 9, 2013. Also when I go into the internet it takes me about 10 minutes to even search one thing. What do we need to do to fix this problem. I have windows 8 Pro, I cannot seem to resolve this issue. I clean a lot of my files to not be so bog down with stuff. I have a lot GB, so I would think this is not the problem, I would think. Please Help, Help, and Help me. Thanks View this thread

This update I think has something to do with Microsoft Security Essentials which I have Installed. However when I run MSE it stops partway through and always at CWINDOWSSYSTEM32|Commtsadmin.tlb. Are they linked in some way? I am using Windows XP Home Edition. Also I cannot uninstall MSE through Add or Remove Programs. Any help would be gratefully accepted. View this thread

Samsung Chronos 7 i5 processor running windows 8 with Classic Shell to force desktop mode. Since applying 2 Intel updates around a month ago, when machine comes out of hibernation, it asks for "you must restart your computer to apply these changes". If I restart it then comes back with the same message. This time if I restart the message doesn't appear. So two restarts required to clear the message. I have often checked the update history and usually no update has been applied. Have tried turning off automatic updates but problem still there. Have run windowsupdate.diagcab which showed 2 problems but seemed to fix them (next run showed no problems). View this thr…

Since the 21st the same updates have been installed on shut down. I have run the trouble shooter and nothing seems to be the problem. The following link is a screenshot of the "View Update History" of the continuous update and also from the last successful one. http://i44.tinypic.com/xfoizr.jpg I am at a loss of what to do. What I have googled its been the problems that the updates haven't been installing but by the history these have been.. Any assistance with this would be greatly appriciated. View this thread

Every time I power up, I get an error message inviting me to send it to Microsoft. It says "Some unexpected errors have happened to software you recently used." The message for MS is always the same: "The error report contains the following file: NDP1.1sp1_KB2742597_X86_wrapper.log version.txt" When I switch the computer off, there is always an update to download, which I have assumed is meant to deal with the error. How can I find out what is generating the error? My version of Windows is XP. Is there a way of checking that the update is the same every time? View this thread
