WINDOWS UPDATE SETTINGS IS GREYED OUT - NEED TO ABORT WINDOWS UPDATE - EMERGENCY HELP? The last time Windows did an automatice update last year it caused me a blue screen and I lost all of my files. ... I've had Updated turned off since I got it fixed but still lost my files from before. HOWEVER... Today suddenly I get a pop up window stating the Updates are done and to restart automaticlly or Set to later. It pops up every 15 minutes.... I tried to reset the setting but the setting is greyed out. I don't know what to do... I can't stay up all night. How do I stop these updates and possibly loose everything again. I don't have money for a backup hard driv…

hello, on my asus vivotab rt i can't install kb2760339 as I continue to receive error 80070003 (i think i've got 20+ error related to this update in my update history)...i've googl...err...binged on this issue and every article i found on this kind of issue suggests to erease the temporary update data (eg: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Windows-Update-error-80070003 ) . Hi Guys, So I bought a laptop roughly 2 years ago, Yes it's slightly old but I use it everyday for work usage. Now recently it has just shutdown on me and hasn't wanted to boot up properly. Everytime I boot up I either get the screen with the option to repair or launch. Repair doesn't work, I watched a video also but I am missing options such as Run CMD ect so I was stuck there. I tried restoring from recent restore points however it also failed to follow through with this. When I try to install KB267038 the progress bar moves almost to the very end and then just stops. I have tried to then choose &quotRestart&quot and it states that it is installing, however even after 24 hours it sometimes takes to reboot it has not installed. Upon shutting down my computer, Windows update KB 2760600 32 bit runs continuously and my computer won't shut off normally. I tried to use the Fix It tool. It removes the problem for two to three shut-downs, but then the same darned update comes back and I'm back to square one. What can I do? View this thread

I have updated two of my computers to Win7 PRO 64 bit and now I cannot look at any of the power option settings, but the systems will allow me to change which plan of the three listed. I recently downloaded a Windows update which installed IE 10. Afterwards Internet Explorer continually froze and was very instable, especially when I opened additional tabs. To get over this I restored to an earlier date before the update came in and all was okay but obviously with IE back to version 9.
