Okay, so I'm using Windows 7 on my HP dv6 laptop, and for some reason every time I update my computer, windows is unable to restart. It finally starts after I do system repair and/or system restore a number of times or until system restore says it has no more restore points. More often than not the start up repair says that there is a problem but the start up repair could not fix it, so I send the information to microsoft with the "send info" button. Last night (3/15/2013) my computer installed 1 update. I go to turn it on this morning and windows fails to start. I go through system repair and tell it to do system restore. It actually worked succes…

System capable of supporting it. 1rst step of install has load drivers option to install device driver to access your hard drive. Try to install-none on OS disk which I guess makes sense. The cd which contained drivers and utilities that came with the computer with the vista 32 bit, it states that it cannot find any drivers there either. Does this mean that the drivers on the cd and in my computer will not work? And if so: Do I need to get vista 64device drivers to continue? Where do I get them or download them from? And do I need to have 64 bit drivers for every device and function on my device manager list? Thanks Ron View this thread

Windows could not search for new updates Error Code 8024800A. I am running a toshiba p750 with 8Gb Ram, it all worked last time I used it a couple of weeks ago. The last update was - Platform Update for Windows 7 x64-Edition (KB2670838) Installation date: 27/02/2013 2:55 PM Installation status: SuccessfulAny ideas? View this thread

I just installed all the March 2013 windows updates, there were about 3 or 4 of them I believe. One of them is KB 2807986. It seems that as soon as I install Windows Update KB 2807986 my computer will never shut down properly. When I choose start, shut down, or reboot, it will stay stuck on the 'shutting down' screen for hours. The only way to shut it down is to hit the power button. Thinking there may be a problem with windows update, I tried to install it using the update file from the windows update catalog site, but the same problem happens if I do that. As soon as I uninstall KB 2807986, my computer shuts down properly again. Windows Update KB 2807986 is th…

About three weeks ago (2/20/13), I allowed my computer to do windows update. It configured the updates, and then went to restart. And it never came back on. I pressed the power button, and nothing would get it to come back on. It would power up for a half second and then die again. This means, the fans and LEDs would power up, then die a second later. There was no BIOS, nothing on the screen. It would die way too quickly for my monitor to even recognize that the computer was on yet. I have a windows 7 x64, home edition, I believe.Wondering if a component went bad, I unplugged all the hardware (optical drive, the hard drive, video card, RAM, fans) leaving only the mother…

F'ing useless.Started this morning, same thing.confirmed that i had the latest version of anti virus software.Uninstalled both audio/video drivers tried to run delmigprov.exe.tried to manually KB2756872 but says it i…

After automatic updates on March 13, 2013, I receive 'page cannot be displayed' while trying to view 'some' webpages. It seems the webpages mostly effected by the update are webmail or browser popups where the email should be opening. This happens on both windows xp, and windows 7 machines after updates from MS. All 4 machines use the update automatically setting and are up to date. Symptoms: XP= Outlook would no longer connect to the pop3 server to send/receive. Outlook would display the login screen as if the password wasn't correct for the mail server login. I opened IE browser and went to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** and received 'page canno…

I upgraded my Dell laptop E1505 from XP to Windows 7. Internet explorer 9 was installed with this upgrade. Now Windows update is trying to upgrade IE 9 with IE10. I has continued to fail with error code 9C5J. I have reviewd possible fixes. Tried installing all the additional x86 software required (some indicated they are not for this computer). I have tried to download IE 10 (saved to the harddrive) and ran as admin. Still the same error. Is there a solution to this problem? View this thread

I think a ?virus corrupted updater, I'm fairly certain I've cleaned the virus with PC Cleaner AV, but don't know how to fix updater. Running Win 7 within VMware Fusion on Mac OS 10.6. I do have a "snapshot" of my Win 7 when it was first installed, and of course the Win 7 Home Premium DVD. I still don't know which files I need to retrieve and replace the damaged ones.
