Unable to install Office 2003 SP3 and Outlook 2003 KB936677
by Guest Ron G- 6 replies

Since 9/18/2007 my Windows XP SP2 computer has been trying unsucessfully to install the 2 above updates. All previous updates have been installed properly with no problem. My computer came with Office XP (2002) which included Outlook, Excel, Word and Publisher. I needed Access, so I uninstalled Access 2000 from my old computer in 2002 and installed it along with Powerpoint 2000. In 2004 or 2005, I bought and installed a standalone Outlook 2003 to be compatable with my laptop since I sync my files. After that install, when I open Outlook 2003 I get a flash on the screen about Windows Installer. I've lived with that annoyance and have been able to up…

Vista Ultimate Extras Not Showing Up?
by Guest Keith Russell- 0 replies
I have been reading the windowsultimate.com blogs about the extras that are available for Vista Ultimate. I cannot find any download links, and some of the extras that are discussed there do not show up for me in Windows Update, either. Specifically, the Korean language pack and the Hold 'Em Poker game are not listed. Can anyone tell me why these downloads are not being displayed, and how I can get them to list? (Also...I would have posted this question to one of the Vista newsgroups, but Forte Agent does not list any in its directory. Does anyone know why?) Thanks! -- Keith

Windows XP update blue screen locked
by Guest sunfire2019- 0 replies

I did an update for Windows XP on my Gateway laptop and by mistake the laptop was closed. The other user logged onto the computer with no problem no realizing an update was in progress. The other user shut-down the computer and know it is left on the Windows blue screen statin "installing update (1-1)" and then flips the the screen "do not unplugged or turn off computer it will log off automatically". Last time this happened the computer was shut down by the user and the computer crashed. Can anyone help me or will i have to shut the computer down manually because this has been trying to update for atleast 12 hours. Thanks

Advanced Option will not complete successfully with IE7
by Guest Bernard- 13 replies

I'm running XP Pro with all updates applied and IE7. When I go into Windows Update and select Change Settings and then tick the box to notify me of updates to betas and other code I get a screen back instantly which says "The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view." and that's it - I just cannot get IE7 to accept my request to be notified about these additional updates. Just in case it is relevant I also have the problem whereby almost every web page in IE7 gives me an error and says things like "Done, but with errors on page" - I get a variety of error codes if I look at the messages in more detail. I don'…

I have checked Internet options (advanced) and did not find Microsoft VM. I found Java and have the latest one. Internet Explorer, however is still version 6. How do I get rid of the annoying VM updates when I DO NOT have VM in the first place? I have not yet tried uninstalling VM as the advice of so many people. Seems pointless to uninstall when I do not have Microsoft VM. HELP???

Windows Update MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (KB927978)
by Guest chloeann- 3 replies

The above update has been downloaded into my system approximately seven times, thanks to Automatic Updates and me just trying to get it to go away. The Icon is still sitting down in my bottom taskbar, by my clock, saying that it still needs to be installed and the Windows Update Screen shows that it still needs to be installed. I am very sick of looking at this thing and Microsoft has not been of any assistance to date. Can anyone assist, I would certainly appreicate it. Thank you.

Hello, and thanks in advance for advice. Installed new hard drive with fresh installation of Win XP w/ SP2. Activated software with Microsoft. No other software installed. Internet settings are "Default" setting from the fresh installation. Start > Windows Update Web page is blank, states "opening page" at bottom, "hour glass" remains on screen. Windows Update will not launch. Reviewed solutions from Newsgroup related to this, and solutions from MS Support, only suggestion found was to: Start > Run > regsvr32 jscript.dll This does not work. Any suggestions? Thanks, Steve

80072efd Error code.
by Guest Katie- 6 replies
I've been recieving the error code recently while trying to update. Now, I've read the support article that seems to be working for everyone, but not for me. I've flushed the DNS, there were no hosts files to remove, and now I've tried the command prompt (running in administrator mode as well). Yet, when type in 'proxycfg-d' I get a message back that says 'proxycfg-d is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file'. I've tried typing it different ways and no matter what, it gives me the same message. Any different workaround for this problem?

RECENT UPDATES
by Guest Nikki- 1 reply

Anyone else update recently and lose their network information and Windows stops recognizing your Processor and/or RAM? I ran windows update and all of a sudden Vista stopped recognizing my Processor and my RAM. It also wouldn't let me into my Network connections, just froze every time you tried to get into it. I formatted my hard drive and re-installed Vista (should have gone BACK to XP) and it's still doing the same thing. I can't even install and run the new Version of AIM!! I did learn my lesson and create a restore point before I do anything, but I'm at the point where I'm ready to wipe it and start over again. Any suggestions???

Windows Update causes Explorer.exe to crash on restart
by Guest eminemjamesuk- 3 replies

I recently formatted my system and the Windows install is brand new. One of the Windows Updates causes my Explorer.exe to crash when I start it up again. Not even a simple restart will cause this message to go away. The only solution I've found so far is completely formatting the computer again. Now I'm afraid of installing Windows Automatic Updates. FYI, I'm running Windows XP SP2 Home (Simplified Chinese version). Lenovo F20 model

Everytime I try to install the updates that it is telling me i need, i get the error code 80240016. I tried restarting my computer and even going to the microsoft website to intall them manually. Nothing is working. It either tells me that I need to install an update for windows update, which when I try that it fails as well, or it tells me that windows update is currently installing other updates and to try again, but it i click on try again, nothing happens. I can't find anything anywhere on how to fix this, can someone help me?
