MS .NET Framework 3.0 update installs Vista version of Cardspace
by Guest Kerri@learn- 1 reply

I installed the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 because it was listed as a high priority update. It also installed windows cardspace with it,but it must be the Vista version because the file is vertical like the files in Vista. Of course I can't use this cardspace and it hangs the computer. I uninstalled this update but would like to know if there is this update with Windows cardspace for an xp home system.

Error Code C0150001A, Window cannot Update.
by Guest +Fenzy- 0 replies

Recently I've been recieving an error whenever Windows Vista cannot update, and everytime I click TRY AGAIN, it'll take me to the Errors: Code C0150001A. I've tried searching through my FAQ, but I haven't found anything regarding this particular error whenever I need to update my Windows Vista. I'm not computer savvy, so I'm none too sure what else I can do with it. Basically, it'll say CHECK FOR UPDATES, and I'll click it, then it'll take me to INSTALL NEW WINDOWS UPDATE and I'll click INSTALL NOW, but nothing happens then eventually that error pops up. What can I do? :\

my computer shutdown itself whenever it shut down

Most people's computers shutdown (actually power off) when they choose "shutdown" from the Start Menu in Windows XP (I assume you have Windows XP from the group you chose to post in.) Older computers - with more 'mechanical' buttons where the motherboard does not have much of a hand in controlling the power from the power supply - may not do this. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

WSUS3 - Client Not showing up right
by Guest KWalsh125- 1 reply

I have a very strange issue with SWUS3. My WSUS3 server had been working correctly and now for some reason all new clients with a certain image are not appearing in the console correctly. What is happening is I go to the client and run c:\windows\system32\wuauclt.exe /detectnow on system #1 and the system will appear in the console. If I go to system #2 that has the same XP sp2 image and run the command there it will bump system #1 out of the console. Running it on system #3 will bump system #2 and so on. The systems were all imaged using Ghost 8 and sysprep has been run to create new sids. The strange part is all systems appear to be updating c…

Uninstall WDS problem - No Permissions
by Guest Greg Candido- 1 reply
Recently Windows Update installed Windows Desktop Search (WDS) on all my networks workstations. I created a batch file that silently uninstalls this application (Which Microsoft throws upon us). My intention was when a user logons on it will execute the batch file (Silently) and uninstall the application from the user's workstation. Heres the problem: None of our domain workstations have any local administrative permissions, nor does the user. So when the batch file runs when the user logon script executes it says. The uninstall says 'Access Denied', blah, blah, blah due to these restrictive permissions. Now I don't want to give the user or the …

Problems after upgrading from WSUS 2.0 to WSUS 3.0
by Guest SRMW- 8 replies

Hello, We are having some strange problems after upgrading our secure WSUS 2.0 SP1 server to WSUS 3.0. Previously we were using SQL server 2000 running on the same server, during the upgrade we chose to go with the Windows internal database. The upgrade process went smoothly without any problems at all. The only down side was that it rest the secure configuration using using SSL & port 8531 to a unsecured server using port 8530 during the upgrade. No problem there as I reconfigured it again as before as a secure WSUS server and used port 8531 for the Admin site. Once this was done everything started working ok with the clients reporting and being ab…

Windows Update installation failure kb936514
by Guest Tommy- 0 replies

I am having a problem installing 936514. The machines in question are identically imaged and only a few are having a problem with the installation. I receive the error: "The installation failed, this can be due to a corrupted installation database." These machines do not currently have Office 2007 installed. They do, however, have the Compatibility Pack to which (if I read the KB correctly) does require the update, and they do detect that the update is needed through Automatic Updates. These machines did have Office 2007 installed on them in the past which has been fully removed and does not show up in "Add / Remove Programs." Interestingly eno…

Can anybody help on this one please ? I’ve recently rolled out WSUS and patched my small (25 clients) network with all critical and office based patches. Im running Server2003 with XP Pro clients. I now have the following problem…. When trying to install Abobe Acrobat 5.0.5 on a newly patched PC everything installs OK apart from the Acrobat Distiller printer ? On PC’s that had Abode Acrobat installed before the patch rollout everything still works fine. I can install other “normal†printers OK so what’s happened ? I also tried to install Primo PDF and that failed as well when it tried to install the PDF printer part. What has Windows Update…
