by Guest Rox- 6 replies

This update of 2 days ago will not install and it does not give an error code. It has now tried 6 times to install, it just says failed in history. Does any one have any ideas? Also, does any one know how to find out what the update is? XP would expand to give you a description of an update. This doesn't and I can't find a description.. Rox

Ran Microsoft Update today, installed teh desktop search tool. Then started getting errors from Outlook Express that the store file was not opened, the disk was full. The clue was I'd done two Windows XP computers today and both had the same proble, The program was removed using the Control Panel/add-remove [you have to reboot to see the application for removal]. Operation returned to normal after removal. Suggest not installing the optional program. Follow-ups will go to microsoft.public.windowsupdate

Update does not apply to my system
by Guest Dean- 3 replies
When I try to download and install an update, as suggested by the "Problem Reports and Solutions" program, I'm told that the update does not apply to my system. I do not however receive this until the update has been downloaded and is being nstalled. Is this because the update has already been installed by "Automatic " update or something else? I do know that I have a 32-bit system and am trying to install the correct updates! If it's because the update is already installed, am I able to check this? should it be listed in the "Installed programs/Updates"? Thanks Dean

Hi All, My computer gets it's updates from Windows Update. Recently the Root Certificates Update keeps installing repeatedly. I've tried changing the settings for Root Certificate Updates in Add/Remove programs, but it makes no difference. I have also tried to install the update manually using the following link, but automatic updates tells me that this update still needs to be installed. http://www.msfn.org/board/print.html&client=printer&f=129&t=105195 Any ideas what might be causing this and how I can stop it? Thanks, Ken

Where can I find a complete list with the names and dates of all released Windows Updates after XP SP2? I found a link on the website of Microsoft of some windows updates that were released, but these were only 'security fixes'. I am looking for the complete list of released Windows Updates (if it's possible by month) so this include: hardware updates, security fixes (critical updates), patches, etc.

(This message was sent a second time through another provider as it did not appear after 12 hours) Hello everyone, When trying to run Windowsupdate (OS: Win2000 SP4 IE 6), the page displays the message: "Checking for the latest version of the Windows Update software". It stops there, there is not even a progress bar. CPU usage 0%. When trying Microsoft update I get the same, but this time there's an error code: 0x8007007E. Here are the things I already tried to solve it: I ran IE repair tool, using this method (as it's not in the add/remove list): http://www.infopackets.com/channels/en/windows/gazette/2003/20030522_repair_internet_explorer.htm I Re…

Most likely the problem was the Office Setup Files where deleted when the PC using the Disk Clean-up utility. Repairing office and then re-running the updates would have succeeded.
