I then ran CMD as administrator and entered net start slsvc as directed I got the…

Hello... I have been having issues with this update (previously mentioned) I have installed the update many times, yet every time i start up my computer, it says that i have the same update ready to install. The update, everytime i have installed it, has gone through successfully. Yet upon restart it seems to want me to reinstall it anyways. Is there a known fix to this issue? Sorry, i am rather new to this type of stuff so i have no clue what is going on.. Thanks in advance

I have Vista and the Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB941833) is the only update which fails to install. Has anyone had this problem, and is there a fix? I have upgraded Vista twice and each time I chose to keep my system settings and programs. After each upgrade and downloading all updates, KB941833 is the only update which fails to install and code 64c is displayed.

Hi, WinXP Home SP2 For this past week, with automatic download operating, or download and let me install, etc., the yellow shield would be in systray indicating I had a high priority download for install. When moving through the process, a popup would appear - with these words. "Setup Error. KB933729. Setup could not verify the integrity of the file update, .inf. Make sure the Cryptographic Service is running". I eventually turned off the 'auto updates' because this download would appear every few minutes. Cryptographic services are running, I've checked it many times. It's on autopilot and started. Any thoughts on this? Regards!

I updated security updat for Microsoft XML core services 4.0 Service pack2. It was KB936181. When I shut down my pc it said click to install updates. Did that now every time I shut down the same thing happens. I looked at my download history, and the KB936181 is listed about 14 times. When I look at my Add or Remove Programs on my control panel it's not listed. Any ideas? Also, I don't know if this is affected by this, but I can't receive any e-mails since this has happened. Many thanks Dave

KB936181 AND Office XP SP 3
by Guest fairyreveries- 0 replies

Sooo I've read several posts on here about the KB9 situation and have followed several of the ideas here that others have found helpful (like uninstalling KB927978...which I don't have...and another which I can't remember off the top of my head....and then to install KB941833 which was also a bust because I got an error message). I am at my wits end. To add to my frustration, when I did one of the suggestive articles, it found that I needed to install Office XP Service Pack 3....I have VISTA and when I go to install this "update" it tells me that I need to insert the CD that the update is on....I need help please....I've tried everything and I cannot seem…

Are some of the older Updates redundant?
by Guest tacramer@yahoo.com- 3 replies

Is there a list somewhere or a scanning program that will tell me if some of the older updates are no longer needed because a new one has replaced it.. Some of these downloads are big and they're adding up to some major diskspace.. For example the service pack for office 2003... will this replace all of the word updates, excel updates, etc..??

Windows Updates Failed
by Guest sdavies2720- 4 replies

I repaired my XP install due to a corrupted Norton Internet Security installation. Windows Update has downloaded 84 fixes, but when I try to install them, I get an error that the install has failed (this is true whether I select all, or just some of the patches). Unfortunately, going to the install history does not show anything since I repaired the install. So I have no error codes. Anyone have a suggestion how to proceed?

Hello, all! I'm trying to make a windows update but hours on the screen of "Checking for the latest updates for your computer..." with the green bar doesn't get me to the updates page after that. I've tried to make the following things: 1. Renaming SoftwareDistribution folder (even removing it). 2. Tried to reinstall this (updated) fix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927891. 3. Tried to install the newly released 'standalone' version of Windows Update Agent 3.0, v7.0.6000.374 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932494. With no luck cause a receive a message that the Agent is already installed. 4. Reinstalling the Windows Genuine Agent (WGA) with LegitCheckCont…

Update KB933729 problems
by Guest crtombes@yahoo.se- 4 replies

I recently downloaded the KB933729 update for Windows XP home edition. After installing this patch for the RPC vulnerability I have had several services crash (one at a time) due to a file that is part of the RPC update, rpcrt4.dll. The services crashing have been random. Uninstalling the update makes everything work as normal but I figure this patch is important to have installed and would appreciate feedback for a solution. I should add that I have reinstalled the patch twice with AV and other active software disabled. Below is the dump file debugged with rpcrt4.dll version information, perhaps somone with more knowledge can understand more of this, thanks.…

I can't arrive at Windows Update
by Guest JR- 17 replies

I click to go to windows update and the window opens that begins the check of one's computer... "Checking if your computer has the latest version of Windows updating software for use with the website. The website uses ActiveX controls to determine which version of the software your computer is running. If you see an ActiveX warning, make sure the control is digitally signed by Microsoft before installing it or allowing it to run." Once this page opens, that's it. No message of any type. It just sits there until I close it down. Any thoughts? Thanks!

yesterday windows prompted me to install updates. it downloaded, installed and asked me to restart my pc. i was going to bed so i manually shut down. today when i started my pc after the bios load it went to a blank screen with a flashing curser. i restarted. this time it advised me my boot disk was corrupted and did a scan. i restarted. windows booted up but stopped at the welcome page. a pop up advised me that in order to restart windows i should insert my windows disk to reinstall as my copy was invalid (it's not). i did so, the disk whirred but nothing happened. i rebooted. now it was possible to enter windows safe mode and run system restore (too be…
