All 81 updates fail to install
by Guest Scott Hippauf- 9 replies

I have been having major issues with this brand new system. All updates download fine but will not install. Have renamed CatRoot2. Ran install of "WindowsInstaller - KB893803" (successful) and "windowsupdateagent30-x86". this last installation gives feedback that "install not needed since Windows Update Agent is already installed". Retry windows updates and they still fail. Could my problem be an MSInstaller issue? Including below what I believe to be relevant information form WindowsUpdate.log. I did not include the entries indicating each of the KB# the updates were for. Copied portion of the log where the installation began. Your prompt assistance i…

by Guest Donna- 1 reply

I am not a computer whiz by any means. I took all my disks into work and showed them to our comp. tech. He told me to install a certain audio one and I did. My speakers now have the dialing sounds when I'm dialing up. It beeps when my CallWave has an incoming call, but I can't hear anyone. I did receive an email that played sound through the whole thing. I'm really puzzled now. Why would it play from an email, but I can't hear any other music or voices? I receive error messages like....device is being used by another device, or something like that. Also, I think it said that something needs to be reconfigured. Oh Yeah!!!! I have been into all …

MSHTML.DLL Error (i'm not very computer literate, help)
by Guest AmandaAmandaAmanda- 1 reply

I have Microsoft ME and I think Internet Explorer 5.0 (lame, i know). My problem is that I have a MySpace page, and when I try to look at my pictures or any of my friends pictures I get this: Iexplorer has caused an error in MSHTML.DLL. Iexplorer will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer. Oh, and there's always an exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle that says Done but with errors on page down in the left hand corner of my page. I've tried trouble shooting, but I think it was for Iexplorer 6.0, I don't know if that makes a difference or not but, I tried to run file msconfig, then extract, then extract file i…

OK, every time I try to use windows update, whether I click express or custom, it brings up a screen saying Information: Files required to use Windows Update are no longer registered or installed on your computer. To continue: (Then a clickable circle) Register or reinstall the files for me now (Recommended). Once I click continue, I get 4 screens quickly cycling through. 1. 'checking for latest version...' 2. It says downloading 100% 3. It says registering, and cycles from 10-100% 4. same as #1 Then back to Welcome to Windows Update page. Click either express or custom, and it does the same thing. Try to use Microsoft (instead of Windows) Updat…

How do I reinstall an update??

I installed a number of updates a couple of months ago,and things were ok for a while... Unfortunately, a virus let loose, and although now removed and am now properly protected, a have some problems at odd times... The toolbar freezes, and I cannot use the start button to access my programs. And Windows Explorer will not start up at all.... I previously had the problem with explorer, but this seemed fixed after installing the updates.. I would like to reinstall the updates, but windows update doesn't seem to allow this - I cannot manually select the ones I want. I have tried looking in the Add/remove program box to reomve them here (with the idea o…

My Computer hangs up
by Guest GayleB4- 0 replies
When I try to explore by either double clicking or right clicking on My Computer to browse my drives the system hangs up on me (not responding). I have recently upgraded to Office 2007, but I have also done some Windows updates. How do I troubleshoot this? I am lost. I tried to search for others with same problem but only see KB911562 update as causing this (not related to office 2007) and that was from back in April. Can't even find this update on my system (in Add remove programs) or I would remove this. Should I just start removing updates first and see what happens? HELP!
