Thanks for this information. I have been fiddling around with this for the last three months and it works without me uninstalling/installing my Office Product. Windows Update for Office 2003
by Guest Turon- 2 replies

Hi, I had a question about the Office 2003 Pro compatibilty pack for the Offie 2007 suite. There are several Office 2003 updates that are a prerequisite before applying the update for the Office 2007 compatibility pack. Are these updates for Office 2003 (which would bring it up to the current build of 11.8142.8132 SP2) available by any chance through automatic updates? Currrently, the only way that I know of that you can get them is by manually going to the site from each machine and then downloading and installing them (after Microsoft has determined that your copy of the OS is valid) The reason for my question is that soon, our environment will h…

Hello, I have Windows vista family premium in french. Before last week, the Windows Update had worked perfectly. The last successful update was "Definition Update for Windows Defender KB915597" on 2007-08-31. Now, each time I try to update windows, I got error 800B0100 and a message like this one in french : "Windows didn't manage to search new updates". I don't know why. To fix it, I've tried to rename the folder SoftwareDistribution but it didn't change anything. Could you give me some help ? Thank you

I upgraded W98SE to XP Pro and it went extremely well.I installed SP2 off the web and it went well too.I updated all security patches with no problems.Shortly afterwards my system would not boot, the progress dots on the initial screen froze.I could find no reason for this so I un-installed SP2.The system ran 100 percent for two weeks.updates worked automatically and manually. I then used a MS CD to re-install my SP2 and all worked OK,except my system continually says I have updates and when I install, there is a list of 76 KB's that did not install.I have tried all available tools to get these installed but they always show as un-installed. I followed…

Get the microsoft update right!

Can microsoft finally fix the updates from eliminating and then replacing the power and volume icons from the taskbar. It is very annoying. When it eliminates the icons, they are grayed out and the user is prevented from checking the box in the Notification Area once inside the Taskbar Properties. Fix it and be done with it, already!!!! ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. WGA failure After Recovery
by Guest Jo- 3 replies

I had some serious Malware issues that required a Recovery Console repair.. I got XP up again and working then had to call MS to re register my XP Pro. I did that. Finally got on the 'net and Windows Update has tried running over and over again and Fails at the WGA everytime with: (KB892130). I read thorough here and tried the WGA Diagnostic. It shows my XP as GENUINE, which it is.. I rebooted and now I have the "XP is no longer up to date" Icon.. My Updates fail over and over now.. I tried reinstalling Legit Check as well, as advised here. Then I tried the WGA Diagnostic and Rebooted...etc... How can I get past this.. I am ready to scream here...

Hi, I am using Windows Vista Business (32 bit version). I have 2 windows updates which repeatedly fail to install. They are: KB936782 Error details: Code 80070643 KB938194 Error details: Code 80071AA7 Both patchs will download and install, but when Windows restarts and the updates are configured they fail. I have tried running the installs individually from the 'View Update History' window but this makes no difference - also fails. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can't download window updates,Wondows XP
by Guest Alan- 7 replies

When i go to the microsoft download site, the web page fails to load, it just hangs there. After a period of time, the only way i can clear this screen is to "alt, control and delete". if i reconnect my broadband connection, I cannot access any web-page or use my outlook, i have to re-boot. I have disabled my Nortons Firewall and Spyweeper and problem still exists. Possibly connected with this problem, is a message I get when i boot-up my PC. Generic host process for win32 has encountered a problem and needs to close with the error message c\doc\owner\local\temp\werda5a.dir00svchost.exe.mdmp If I let the PC sit for 5to 10 mins before I access the web,…

windows updates don't install
by Guest danno- 8 replies

followed the thread from Resonator80 earlier today, having the same issue. I have 44 updates to install, and they have downloaded, but fail to install each time. I get this message in the windowsupdate.log: "warning WU client failed installing updates with error 0x80240020"... so, I search for that error, and get KB910341. for XP, step 1 says to log on as a local administrator. fine, all three users are administrators. step 2 tells me to look for some registry entries in this subkey: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\SensLogn" except, that computer doesn't have a Senslogn subkey. now what? XP Home …

How Long Should an Update Take? -- Windows XP
by Guest jamesmcnee- 4 replies

I have a secondary computer running Windows XP. I don't pay much attention to it. It sits in our kitchen and my son plays a few games ... When I went to bed last night there was a blue screen with the Windows XP logo and a message "Installing Update 1 of 1" then it would switch to "Do not turn off or unplug the computer it will turn off automatically." So I left the machine alone. This morning I came down to find the computer still running and the same messages. If this situation sounds right how long should I wait before I really worry? If this situation sounds wrong what should I do? I can't recall what version of XP we have or the details of t…
