Autoupdates won't install
by Guest Hardhead- 15 replies

I reinstalled XP with Service pack 2, two weeks ago. Now 70 (more or less) Updates download, but won't install. Each time I start it up, I have to go through the download/ install operation, but they don't install. This is a 6 year old HP Pavilion. Updates worked fine prior to the reinstall. I've read the troubleshooting more than once, but can't solve it.

by Guest Mark Wilson- 2 replies

I have a newly installed server with Windows Server 2003 R2 (64-bit) Enterprise Edition. When I connect to Microsoft update, it's stuck searching for updates (green progress bar pulsing across the screen) before eventually telling me that: [Error number: 0x80244023] The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem. For self-help options: Frequently Asked Questions Find Solutions Windows Update Newsgroup For assisted support options: Microsoft Online Assisted Support (no-cost for Windows Update issues) I tried the Online Assisted Suppo…

Update/Fixes/Patches FAIL
by Guest Shell- 1 reply

Using Vista Home Premium - When going to Vista upgrades and allowing 11 of the latest fixes/patches/upgrades, only 2 succeed, the other 9 fail - constantly. My failed fixes for fixes log is taking over my H-Drive! Windows error code is the same for each fail and is not found either at Micro$oft web site, their Blogs, Google or any where else - for Vista - only for Win98 or ME (Finmally - a fix to fix fixes for Win98!). The error code is" Code 8007000B - Get help". The "Get help" leads to "Troubleshoot" that doesn't go anywhere near failed updates . Is there an installable fix to allow fixes to be fixed? The 9 are KB935652 KB932471 KB905866 KB93…

Unable to download SP2 for XP (EULA Not Accepted)
by Guest elp70- 5 replies

I have been unable to download SP2 for XP using Automatic Updates or by manually downloading the very large SP2 update file. I am receiving a message I have not seen in the discussion groups that I've checked: 'You chose to skip all available updates, so no changes were made to your computer.' I have been able to download and install the other non SP2 updates. I simply can't download SP2. I have validated Windows. When I look for the details on another update screen, I see the following: ' The following updates were not installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 Problem: End User License Agreement (EULA) Not Accepted' Can anyone help point me i…

Custom upd: Clicking links show the home page inside main window
by Guest RTopholm- 3 replies

(This problem applies to Microsoft Update - Windows Update seems unaccessible, it just redirects to Microsoft Update.) When selecting custom update, after the search is finished, and the high-priority results are shown (there are none for me, as I enable automatic upd), then all the links in the left navigation frame ("High Priority", "Software, Optional",...,"Windows XP",.."Office 2007" etc) malfunction! When I click any of them, instead of the relevant results being shown, it reloads the Microsoft Update homepage within the main frame (where the results should be). So I get a nested homepage within homepage look... For some reason, the Options links wo…

help with sp 3
by Guest r2routtu- 0 replies

As with several others i cannot get sp 3 to install, I do not have the ms office pro w/frontpage disc. I have tried all the suggestions here in the group to get around it, to no avail. So...i now need to ask a question...i have ms office 2003 disc and thinking of loading that instead. Questions concerning this are: 1. Do I need to uninstall the msofficepro before installing 2003 or will it overwrite it? 2. If I have to uninstall or even if overwriting it, will i lose all the emails in my outlook when i do this? 3. If i install the 2003 office will it make that stupid servicepack 3 go away or will it still not let me use my excel? 4. Is there any…

by Guest cocotu- 0 replies

We are trying to install SP2 for Win Server 2003. Every time we get the error message indicated at the message title. I also downloaded the sp2 .exe file to run it manually and got: "The Service Pack 2 h:\.....\i386\update\update.inf is not correct" I also downloaded the .iso image and got the same error. I look at my event log: The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {61738644-F196-11D0-9953-00C04FD919C1} to the user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE SID (S-1-5-20). Please Help With Update Installation
by Guest Bill Rueck- 1 reply

I've been having a problem installing Microsoft updates for a few months. After all kinds of removing and reinstalling items in the Registry I found that Windows Installer does not appear in my Services folder. Further investigation revealed that the file MSISERVER is gone from my Registry. All the automatic updates have been failing up to yesterday [sunday] and today [Monday]. A windows security update succeeded on Sunday and THE SAME update succeeded on Monday. I don't understand how they installed when my Windows Installer does not appear in my Services folder. Someone suggested I delete Office 2003 and re-install it, but I can't dele…

I had the following products installed on my PC: Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB886903) Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 This is for Microsoft Support Team: To avoid uninstalling Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0, and since this update is a Hotfix for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, I considered removing only Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB886903) and then Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 using the “Windows Add/Remove Programs†tool. When I tried to remove (KB886903), using the “Windows Add/Remove Programs†tool, a dialog box kept telling me that the file “netfx.msi†is missing…
