Hi all Can anyone help? (Bear in mind that you night have to use laymans terms...! -)) My PC keeps on making a sound and then my mouse will stop woking. Sometimes there will be another 'beep' and it works again immediately, sometimes it takes longer, sometimes this keeps happening continously and sometimes just once every few minutes.Occassionally I get a message in the bottom right saying the USB device has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it. I have been through all the troublshooting for mice and USB devices in the Control Panel and it hasn't worked. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks in advance Pete

Hi Everyone. HP will always state NOT to update any HP Printer Updates from the Microsoft Windows Update site. All updates to a printer should be verified and downloaded directly from http://www.hp.com website. Most of these updates from Microsoft are NOT critical but generally Optional hardware updates. But, if a HP Printer update is downloaded from the Microsoft Windows Update site, Microsoft claims that if you uninstall and reinstall the Printer software the update will be gone. The update may or may not be reintroduced for download at the Microsoft Windows Update site. HP claims that uninstalling and reinstalling the Printer software will not get rid …

Repeated Messages to Apply the Same Update
by Guest Sanford- 3 replies

Hi. Some time ago I applied update KB931784, and it shows up in my "Add or Remove Programs List." But my computer continuously says I need to install it, and when I do, it just repeats that I need to install it. When I go to the Windows Update site itself, it too says I need to install it, and it does this no matter how many times I install it. The only way I can stop is to make this a hidden update. What is going on here? I am concerned that somehow the update is not taking. Thanks for any help. Sanford.

I fear I might have to do a full reinstall of WinXP SP2 on my Dell laptop. Does anyone know if its possible to backup all the updates I can see in the Windows folder and then restall them after i've reinstalled Windows. It would save having to do the tedious task of downloading them all again. Thanks in advance.

Automatic updates being continuously re-offered for install
by Guest TonyS.- 5 replies

I have recently had to re-install (update only not clean install) my Windows XP SP2 PC. I have turned on Automatic updates and got offered 79 critical updates. I followed the process and let XP install all of the updates. Quite a few of the updates (about 20) were reported as not install. After reboot and the completion of the update install for those that reported as installing OK I again selected the remaining updates. The process repeated with most but not all of the remaining ones being installed. I again rebooted and repeated the procedure for the remainder. However at the end of the last lot Windows Update proposes all of the updates for installat…

KB928365

I have been unable to install this update A security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to compromise your Windows-based system running the Microsoft .NET Framework and gain complete control over it. You can help protect your computer by installing this update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer. It just says "failed" and gives no error code. Any ideas on how to get this to install? I have restarted and nothing helps.

"This copy did not pass genuine validation" Please help!
by Guest jonescountry2007- 2 replies

A friend bought this computer at a yard sale for me. It came with no software, so "windows XP Professional SP 1" was already installed on it. When I got online I went to Microsoftdownload.com and learned about the free updates and proceeded to enjoy the much needed updates I was receiving. So I wanted to update to XP SP 2,or even Vista. So I started with the validation test and that's when it replied the message "This copy did not pass genuine validation" . I can't afford to purchase any new software, I am dissabled and am not even getting a check yet. So could somebody please help me in telling me where to go from here. Thank you for your time and help.
