download failure
by Guest dorothy- 24 replies
I choose update and get the list. I choose to download. It starts to download then a window pops up that says updates failed to download. I tried turning off the firewall but that did not make any difference. I have XP home, SP2, a dial-up connection to internet which means the downloads should take hours so I know nothing has come in. I upgraded to XP about 6 mos ago and have never been able to download any security updates. At first a few did start but were incomplete. I have 512 MB RAM so that should not be a problem.

Hide some update item in windows update list
by Guest Osama Rajab- 3 replies

Hi, some items in the update window dose not belong to me (specially the optional items) , I counted over 20 item that either I don't want to install them or dose not belong to me(for example "Chinese (Hong Kong S.A.R.) Language Pack") . I suggest to add an option to hide some items, but give the option to review them from time to time and install any of them if required. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. I just wanted to say that I also was having this exact same error. I could download but not install the updates. The problem is solved now. Some other issues were solved as well just by sheer luck. Thanks mate. Just failed to mention that running this command took a look time. I actually fell asleep waiting for it to finish. Glad that I did it though. Computer is working fine. Just a question though, what exactly did it do to my computer? "Matthew Glaze" wrote: > Tom, > I have managed to fix this problem now. I'm trying to work on an update problem. I have a HP trouble shooting procedure that calls for unregistering and reregistering file msiexec. When I go to Start>Run>msiexec I receive a message stating that msiexec could not be found. I find the file at C>Windows>system32>msiexec.exe.and in the registry at Windows>system32>msiexec.exe. Any help would be appreciated. I've been fighting this download problem for months. I can download updates, but can't install them. Thanks

no updates are sucessful after downloading (WinXPsp2)
by Guest sgwilly64- 2 replies

I've got a new machine with WinXP pro/sp2. The OS came preinstalled from Dell but after installing all my programs the OS became very quirky and I had to reinstall it from CD. Now, when I try to update using Microsoft Update (IE 7) they download (96 of them) but fail to install. I've tried one at a time but get the same result. I've rebooted, but to no avail. I've put a sample of the error codes from the WindowsUpdate.log at the end of this posting. Any suggestions? 2007-08-02 14:42:45:526 2100 858 COMAPI ------------- 2007-08-02 14:42:45:526 2100 858 COMAPI -- START -- COMAPI: Install [ClientId = MicrosoftUpdate] 2007-08-02 14:42:45:526 2100 858 COM…

Error 0x8DDD0004
by Guest Kate- 1 reply

I am trying to run Windows Updates on my Server 2003 domain controller. It has worked successfully in the past (four weeks ago), but this morning, I received the following message: This website wants to install the following add-on: 'Windows Update' from 'Microsoft Windows Component Publisher' I try to install the add-on, but I am placed in a loop where I am continually asked to install the add-on. I tried removing the muweb.dll file, disabling and then re-enabling the add-on, turning off popup blocker, and turning off antivirus, but I am still not able to download the updates. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

updating networked computers

I know I've read somewhere that you can setup your own Windows update server (I think it's called SUS or something like that), that you can set your clients to get their updates from. From what I recall you can also decide which updates get pushed out and which ones don't. Can someone please point me to some good directions on how to do that? Thanks!

.Net Framework 2.0 KB928365 Error solution
by Guest Troutman- 0 replies

Not sure if this will help any of you who are having problems with the KB928365 security update or not but here is what I did to get mine working. 1. Uninstalled .net framework 3.0 2. Uninstalled .net framework 2.0 3. Uninstalled .net framework 1.0 4. Disabled antivirus 5. Stopped all .net services 6. Renamed the .net framework 2.0 folder located in C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\ to v2.0.50727old 7. Downloaded and installed .net framework 2.0 8. Installed .net framework 2.0 KB928365 manually instead of going through Microsoft Updates. 9. Rebooted the server 10. Installed .net framework 3.0 That's it, worked perfectly. P.S. Make sure you re-en…
