how many reboots required?
by Guest David- 0 replies
I am using WSUS 2. Is there any way to tell how many reboots a client machine will need when releasing multiple updates? I have approved several updates for detection, but they are only showing "needed" and I can't tell how many reboots my users are going to have when I release these updates. I don't want my users being rebooted more than once per update push.

KB928367 & KB928366
by Guest Lethal- 5 replies

I have been attempting to install these updates regularly, since I originally was advised they were available. I have also followed advise in other threads to download them from the ms windows site (only to be told that the program or other patches are missing). There is clearly a bug with these updates given the amount of 'traffic'. Is there yet a sure fire way to install them? thanks

INSTALLING WINDOWS UPDATES
by Guest Leofort7- 3 replies

Good day! I think I got the registry keys of my notebook whacked by freeware claiming to clean & speed up computers. As a result, I could not readily install updates even if i had enabled the automatic download & install features. I heard that some of the updates have bugs? True or false? What should I do to get my notebook back to normal so updates are readily downloaded & installed. I'd appreciate hearing from any of the gurus in this forum. -- thtechie

Why can't XP Service Pack 2 be downloaded to CD or thumb drive?
by Guest luvtopost@yahoo.com- 3 replies

I have a laptop that has a network connection problem. All it needs is Service pack 2 to install an application that requires it. I go to Microsoft's site, but it will only download and install to current machine connected. I wanted to download the sp2 to my thumb drive and install it on that laptop that needed it. Microsoft wants you to order this Sp2 cd which takes 4-6 weeks. Why are they making this so difficult?

Hi, I am having a problem with the installation of updates on my PC... I start Microsoft Update, then the program shows me the available updates. I try to install them, but the program just fails in doing so... without any error code at all. But they end out installing if I install them manually I already tried repairing Windows, reinstalling Microsoft Update, etc, without any changes at all. My version of Windows is Windows XP Professional SP2. I would appreciate any help on this subject.

previous posts of update failures
by Guest Lettie- 2 replies

I have had trouble the last couple of weeks with the updates. They try to load every time I turn off my computer, and the update history shows them as successfully installed, but they're obviously not. The trouble one is KB928366. Now I'm having periodic episodes of the computer crashing in mid-startup. Does Microsoft ever look at these posts and are they doing anything to solve the problem? Or is this discussion group the "self-help" site? -- L

Can a WSUS server update itself?
by Guest Yann- 2 replies
Hi, I have a Windows 2003 EE SP1 with WSUS 2 installed on it. I modified the local Group Policy so this server can get the updates from itself by specifying the URL as http://localhost or http://myserver.mydomain, but it never worked. When I run wuauclt /detectnow, no new process is created and nothing happens... I have to do them manually by going to the Microsoft Windows Update web site. Any reason or how can I resolve this? Thanks for your help. Yann
