Cannot Install Updates After Download
by Guest ColTom2- 2 replies

Hi: I just refomatted my Sony VGC-716G and Windows Update worked fine with the last update being SP2. Then I upgraded to MCE2005 to complete my reformatting where I would have Windows XP MCE2005 back. I now have 82 High Priority updates that I cannot install for whatever reason. I deleted the Software Distribution Folder and Windows built it back automatically. Next I ran Windows Update and it downloaded all 82 of them , but when it started initializing for install they all failed. I have tried three times and I can get all updates to download, but none will install. Any recommendations to resolve this issue will greatly be appreciated. Thank…

Hi we´ve got the following problem: Win2k3 Server R2 Sp2 with Citrix PS 4.5 if a user logs on its very sowly. when i install "KB933566" a file named "iedkcs32.dll" is replaced. before installation: Version "6.00.3790.3959 (srv03_sp2_rtm.070216-1710)" und "16.0.3790.3959" [it´s no mistake in spelling!!!] after ithe installation:Version 17.00.6000.16473 (vista_gdr.070420-1500) If I replace the file with the old one (many ppeople say so) it works. My question is: 1. why are ther two different versions in one file 16... and 6.... 2. and why is there a file for ie7 vista on a windows 2003 server????????? Dear Patrick

I have been dealing with the same problem for several days. Suddenly I couldn't use my Earthlink TotalAccess e-mail program. I keep getting a message to update my MDAC_Jet.msi. I have tried to reinstall it multiple times, but I keep getting the same error message. Have you found a solution yet? Failing updates problem fixed but no display in ADd/Remove menu
by Guest Flower Gardener- 3 replies

I recently did a repair install of Windows XP Pro and found that Windows Updates would fail. There were 79 updates that would be marked as done during the run but then at the end would flash a menu indicating that all failed. Then the automatic updates would repeat all updates the next time. I found a program on the Internet called "dial-a-fix" which fixed something that permits the updates to work. However, now there is no list of them in the Add or Remove Program menu. Only the Windows Installer shows in the list. My worry is whether there is still some problem in the update which can come back to haunt me.

New Vista Home Premium install: 8007007A
by Guest christos- 5 replies

15/15 failed update attempts. I just installed vista home premium, first time i've ever used vista... and it gives error 8007007A. Quick google and forum search shows that this isn't commoon. 680i chipset e6600 intel processor 6600gtx 620 mb version (as i recall) vista is on a sata drive, 320mb. xp is on a raid-0 of two 500gb drives. I'd like to be able to run vista's updates, expecially since I heard about an animated .gif exploit which can totally nuke the system via a website. (if someone put that up) I tried going to windowsupdate.microsoft.com, it just tell me to use the vista button. it finds the updates, tries to install them, but they …

Other Domain Admins cannot view available updates
by Guest Sean- 3 replies

We have a windows 2003 Domain and are using WSUS. Recently, the defult Domain Admin account password was changed to force other Domain Admins to use their own credentials instead and thereby provide an audit trail. Since doing this, they cannot view the presence of windows updates waiting to be installed on any Domain server. This is despite the fact that the Domain Admins group is also a member of the Built in Local Admins group. Does anyone have any ideas?

Install New Windows Update Software
by Guest MC Hammer- 2 replies

When I go to run Windows Update, I get a message saying "to check for updates, you must first install an update for Windows Update. Your automatic updating settings will not change." I click on "install now" and get a message saying "to install the update, Windows Update will automatcially close and re-open" This does not happen and the update does not install. so it comes back to the "check for updates" option, which of course when clicked prevents me with the first message above. Nice loop.....

WSUS Server fails to download updates
by Guest spresley- 1 reply

Several of the critical updates shown on my WSUS server fail to download almost immediately after approval. This includes the Service Pack that it tells me I should be getting. It downloads roughly 25% of all the updates that I approve, and successfully distributes them, however the majority of the updates are failing, and I need to know how to fix it

That infamous KB936357 update for Intel chips
by Guest Peter- 8 replies

I haven't had any problems except perhaps an increase in red alerts in my Event Viewer from 1 or 2 to 4 or 5/day, but that could be other factors. My concern is that I allowed it in to both my XP Pros and my Vista Ultimate (I triple boot) and I have a mere Pentium 4 HT @ 3ghz...not a Core-2 Duo etc. etc. Should I uninstall it or leave it? The wording of the KB is nebulous saying Intel processors, particularly Core-2 Duo. so should I be concerned or not? -- Peter Toronto, Canada

0x8DDD00004 Windows Update Error
by Guest Kurtas B- 7 replies

I'm on Windows XP, the machine has SP 2. I've been trying to get recent updates in the past year for this machine, but I keep getting the error listed in the topic. Googling the question gives few results. In the results, one MVP suggests to register 5 DLLs. I did register them successfully but that did not solve my problem. Can anyone help me? I badly need to run updates on this machine for some other software to function.
