KB928365 and KB928366 not installing properly
by Guest Vince- 15 replies

Hi Everyone. I have Windows XP SP2. KB928365 (.Net Framework 2.0) failed to install and KB928366 (.Net Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1) installed but Microsoft Updates brings it back again saying it needs to be installed. Before I start messing with anything I sent a message to the Microsoft Update team allerting them of this issue and asked them to read these newsgroups and see the issue is being reported by many. I'll wait for Microsoft's reply. The Help and Support website for Microsoft where issues are answered and where you can send a message to the Microsoft Update team is http://www.windaa.notlong.com Vince

Reformatting Drive - SP1 updating questions
by Guest BW- 2 replies

I soon plan on performing a "0-write" on my hard drive. I have dl'd the utility to do so from the manufaturer's website. However, when I do this, I will be stuck with a copy of XP Pro SP1. I have read that SP1 updates are no longer supported. Will an SP2 upgrade encompass everything that all the SP1 hotfixes and updates would cover? Thank you for your time, BW

Updates
by Guest Martin Vondracek- 1 reply

I now have 82 High Priority updates that I cannot install for whatever reason. I deleted the Software Distribution Folder and Windows built it back automatically. Next I ran Windows Update and it downloaded all 82 of them , but when it started initializing for install they all failed. I have tried three times and I can get all updates to download, but none will install. Any recommendations to resolve this issue will greatly be appreciated.

Microsoft Update starts over within one of the frames
by Guest jgtz- 3 replies

When I have searched for updates I have 3 software updates (not the ones with priority). I click the link to see the software updates. WU then starts inside the frame to the right of the links. I then have a full window in that frame. If I try to search again the whole session hang. I have tried a lot to fix this but have not been successfull. Uninstalled IE 7.0, installed it again, installed WU again, tried to go back to Windows Update (had the same result) Anyone having an answer?

I'm fed up and ticked off because I keep trying to update this stupid thing and I can't get updates on it. I've contacted the support staff and they provided me with solutions, which I have indeed tried. I even tried the one that was offered to me: that stated: "The error may occur if there is a content mismatch in the DataStore Folder- Applicable operating systems: Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Resolutions: TRIED AND FAILED! It DID NOT WORK! Anyone have other Alternatives? Now I'm sitting here and thinking, Ok,.. I did that Step 1 that Step 2 and that Step 3 and Presto: IT STILL DOESN'T WORK (Gawd) I don't know what else …

Can't download one update...
by Guest Noozer- 6 replies

I am offered the following optional hardware update from the Microsoft Update website: "Microsoft HID Non-User Input Data Filter". I select the update to install, but it fails. I'm not given any error message, except that I should check my installation history. The history doesn't tell me anything about why it failed. Now when I select it, I am told that it's already downloaded and ready to install. Why won't it complete? How can I delete the downloaded version and redownload this update?

I tried the Resolutions offered to me on the Windows Update Error reasoning page and still "No Cigar"- didn't work!! Outlook Express won't remain default email
by Guest John K.- 3 replies
I have been using OE for years and just recently incurred this problem. Running XP home edition. I have gone to Add/Remove programs and clicked on the set defaults and set Windows as the default, etc. That didn't work. Then I selected custom and set Outlook Express as the default email. That didn't work. I have also gone to OE tools and options and selected "set OE as default. That doesn't seem to work. Everytime I start OE, I get the message that OE is not my default email and would I like to make it the default. Any suggestions for a fix would be appreciated.

IE7 security updates
by Guest Lane- 0 replies

After installing the 2 recomended security updates that come up after the reboot from installing IE7 I get a blank page and any action results in a save download to file instead of opening the page. I have gone as far as to uninstall ie7 and ie6 and reinstall. Last time I checked every step of the way and it occurs right after installing the 2 updates for ie7 after ie7 is installed. Note they are not re downloading but just reinstalling. System is XP Pro.
