I have a Dell Dimension 8200 Computer with Windows XP Pro (SP2). After accessing the windows update web site this afternoon, it indicated that my computer needed the following update: Security Update for Windows Media Player 6.4 (KB925398). I am confused about this update since the version of window media player on my computer is 9.00.00.3349. I am also confused after looking at the "details" for this update. Some of the applicable information is listed below: a. The first web page for the "details," had Microsoft Security Bulletin MS06-078 (KB923689) as the subject title. I noticed that this KB did not match the KB in the initial security u…

Vista Updates and Shutdown
by Guest Mike- 5 replies

Is there a way to be able to install updates and reboot vs. the default of shutdown. It's quite a PIA to have to shut down your machine in order to get updates installed - XP doesn't do this. Before we consider deploying this corporate wide - this is not a good solution and will delay us in our plans for deploying Vista. Thank you, Mike

Failed Installs
by Guest InfiniteSpirit- 2 replies

Well, it appears everyone has had failed installs in virtually the same time frame. VISTA does suck, I would like my old windows XP back again. I never had any problems. First my sound card keeps shutting off, I get caught in a loop trying to download up dates, if I install a program there is always some kind of conflict. I have been tryng to download up dates since July 9th and all six download notifications have failed. I have tried sometimes three or four times a day. I'm going to turn off the notifications and try downloading from the sight one at a time. I'll send a post if this helps.
