KB928366
by Guest DickWho- 9 replies

Same problem as with other posts including the ever present icon shield. I'll add to the list: automatic download when computer is turned off. Update History download status suceeded (green check mark). History indicates no failure of the download. History shows 13 suceeded(green check marks) downloads since July 11, 2007. Do I follow previous post solutions or do I follow another set of instructions? Any suggestions?

Group Policy Windows Update with Wake on LAN
by Guest Scott- 0 replies
We have a new WSUS 2.0 implementation with settings defined within Group Policy--download and install for computers, download and notify for servers. Will the update process work if computers have BIOS and NIC support for Wake-on-LAN and are powered off and network adapters cabled to the network? Or does the update process depend upon all computers being powered on during the time of night when GP defines when updating occurs?

internet problem with xp sp2
by Guest rmetts- 1 reply

after installing Service Pack 2, my DSL internet connection no longer works. Also I can't turn on my windows firewall or run some active x because it says some things are set by "group policies". Seeing as how my account is administrator, how do I set these group policies. I just had to reinstall windows and have never had a problem like this before.

Vista Laptop not being updated although updates exist
by Guest GeoffH- 0 replies
My Vista PC shows up in WSUS 3.0 and WSUS says it needs 18 updates. But "Windows Update" reports it is up to date. Checking WSUS by schedule or by forcing a WSUS check (clicking the "Check for updates") finds no updates. This is my first Vista machine so I have most likely missed something. Any ideas please.

.NET 3 framework "needed" when already manually installed
by Guest Harry Johnston- 7 replies
Hi, I've found that the .NET 3 framework (928416) is detected by WSUS (and Windows Update, and Microsoft Update) as "needed" even when it has already been manually installed. It will be downloaded and installed, apparently successfully, just as if it really weren't already there. (Note that the recent security update for .NET 3 is also detected as needed if it hasn't been installed.) Once .NET 3 has been (re)installed by WSUS/WU/MU it is then correctly detected as already installed. This seems to happen consistently, so I suspect a fault in the detection logic, or perhaps in the downloadable installer. I used this link to download the .NET 3 instal…

DNS cache/redirecting domain name?
by Guest eriknorum- 1 reply

I redirected my .se domain to my new webhotels nameservers, but, everytime i try to reach my site, I end up at my old webhotel, that must be due tot he fact that vista saved the old DNS and don´t change it. I tried ipconfig /flushdns , but nothing happens, the problem remains. Of course i tried the obvious things, like cleaning out IE temp files and such. How can I solve this problem, I´d really like to be able to reach my new site.

KB928366 update
by Guest wanda- 4 replies

I have been trying to install this update since 7/16. I've been working with a M.S. support person. After doing everything she said & using some of the methods from this board, I finally decided to use Sys. Restore and bingo, it worked. However, the yellow notification is still notifying me to install this update. I scanned from W. update site. Results KB928366 was successfully installed & history shows success X 2. My problem is getting rid of the yellow notification. Any suggestions.?

KB928366 Problem

My automatic update system has downloaded and installed KB928366 several times according to the Update website, I have also re-booted the computer many times to see if it installs any better . However it does not appear in the list of installed programs in the control panel and the install shield icon keeps coming back to tell me to install it. Am I alone in this problem? Michael

Updates fail, no record
by Guest Dave Bolt- 1 reply

I have just been looking at a WinXP Home SP2 laptop which has not been on The Internet until today. I went to the Windows Update, from Internet Explorer 6 Tools menu, and asked for available updates. Windows Update required installing the validation component, so I told it to go ahead. After downloading and attempting to install the validation component, the report told me that update had failed and to look in the update history for further information. Low and behold, no entry for a failed update, or a successful one either. Repeated the process to no avail. Went to Microsoft Downloads, found the download link for Windows Defender and told it to go ahead…

KB929399 fails to install
by Guest Lee Shipman- 1 reply

Running XP Home, SP2. I keep getting nagged to install KB929399, but it repeatedly fails to install, with an error code of 0x8007F0DA. Each time a repeat installation is attempted, I'm told that the download had previously occurred, and that it was now attempting to install. Perhaps I should remove that download (?), but how? Thanks......Lee

Microsoft Publisher 2002 Front Page Blurred
by Guest Cruiser- 1 reply
Until recently, I was able to scan documents and save them in Publisher. Recently, any previously scanned and newly scanned documents appear blurry like looking through a thick filter. However, print review is perfect and the document prints out perfectly. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both my scanner software and the Microsoft Publisher software. I also downloaded updates. How can I correct his problem? Thanks.
