Updates keep failing

KB929916 KB935807 KB905866 933928 KB935280 KB937077 I had auto update install 3 times at least with reboots. I've turned it off waiting for a reply. I'm frustrated so please let me vent: In my 17 years of MS computing, going back to early MS-DOS, I never had a total operating system crash that required a full reinstall on my new machine until Vista.

hopw can i restore oritinal windows update
by Guest FPS- 0 replies

when i originally got windows update on my new vista computer, it searched for updates to the OS (Vista) only. i then configured it (i don't remember how) to search for updates to Office. i would like to eliminate the updates to Office either by (1) deselecting the recommended updates and tell it not to ask again (the boxes are checked again each time and it's annoying), or (2) restore to the original Updates configuration so that it only searches for updates to Vista. Does anyone know how to do this? I've been searching and searching with no success. Thanks.

automatic update service makes add remove programs and WU stop res
by Guest pillboks- 2 replies

Windows 2000, with automatic update service running, add/remove programs panel shows no list of installed SW and stops responding. Browsing to windows update site makes IE6 stop responding. Automatic update service cannot be stopped, but can be disabled and after reboot, is not active. Then, add/remove programs list is populated, and browsing to windows update site is possible, but complains that automatic updates service is not active. Start the automatic updates service and windows update can get to the green progress bar searching for updates. This does not come to an end. How can I update my computer ?

Error Code: 0x80242006

Hi, I am setting up a new PC with Win XP SP2. I went to windows update and downloaded the genuine windows tool, and Windows Installer 3.1 as it does for the 1st time. That completed successfully. I then told it to look for more updates. It found 82 updates, downloaded them, but fails when trying to install them. The error code is in the subject line above. I found a couple of articles related to the Windows Installer 3.1 v2 and downloaded and installed it just fine, but these updates continue to fail. I guess I could download them individually, but was trying to avoid that much work. Any advice? Thanks, Mike

Hi My Event Log is a mess of the following error (see below). I'm talking about 5,000 events since 4:07 yesterday afternoon. Interspersed with these WebReource.axd / Cryptographic errors are errors related to the failure of the .NET Runtime Optimization Service to compile Microsoft.reportingServices.QueryDesigners (see last error below). I have since uninstalled KB928365 and I am experiencing a whole slew of successful ..Net Runtime Optimization Service compilations notices – don’t know yet if the uninstall worked as I’m still receiving WebReource.axd / Cryptographic errors – will wait till the . I have read at least a dozen of microsoft customers nightmares re: the above.......I believe "Putnik" said it the best, "couldn't microsoft issue an automatic update to wipe out the lot and start again"! Apparently, there is no simple solution for the majority of us who are NOT COMPUTER TECH'S & are finding the various solutions from the many responses to be somewhat 'mind boggling' to say the least! p j
