System Hangs for approx 3 minutes after resume

Since appying the July update to my Sony Laptop I have had problems when windows starts / resumes. The entire system will appear to be working, but no programs will load. After approx 3 minutes, everything i've clicked on will suddenly spring to life! Is anyone out there suffering the same problem / know of a solution? Thanks in advance, CBA

I have a question regarding the Windows Automatic Updates. I needed to rebuild a PC after a hard drive replacement. After installing Windows XP SP2, I set the Automatic Updates to "Notify Me but don't automatically download or install them." I have not been presented the option for the WGA, KB 905474. Has WGA been pulled or otherwise? Thanks.

After installing net framework version 1.1 and 2.0 and version 3.0 and did all the updates. I have had critical updates, but not notified by automatic updates, (no icon). i checked manually and found critical update at the microsft windows update site i download it and installed, with out a problem. I noticed when i rebooted the computer i was asked to log on, thought this strange as i don't use log on, checked the user accounts and found that the net framework had placed one there. Hello, I can not recieve any incoming requests. Seems that all ports except, 80, 21, and 23 are blocked. I used a web utility on grc.com called shieldsup, to verify and they are all blocked. Does this mean I can not set up or use IP Cameras or other home monitoring devices??? I spoke with my isp (earthlink), and they say everything is all good on thier side. I disconnected my router, and plugged straight into the dsl modem, to my computer, with the same results Any thoughts??? Bill

Using XP Pro Updates won't install

Hi, I'm using XP Pro SP 1 through the Parallel 3.0 VM on an Intel Macbook. Few, if any, Security updates for XP have installed, and it seems maybe none will install. The installation gets stuck every time and I've gotten blue screens as well. I checked my Update History and the main error code I get is: 0X800706BA. And none of the 'KB' updates are installing either: KB905749 for example. I appreciate any help. Of course my goal is to get SP2 installed if at all possible. Many Thanks, Frank B.

What the hell is wrong with this update? It's not installing on my vista like others have been experiencing as well. I tried installing it after all my other updates. It keeps rebooting twice and when I log back on my computer, it doesn't install and I'm always notified. I tried manually downloading and installing it and that failed. No one from microsoft email support replied back. Hi, anybody have a problem, or better still, resolution for windows updater, which, even though I have the security center (in XP home) set to "let me download and choose when to install" option "on", automatically downloads and installs updates regardless. I would like to save regular updates that aren't on service pack 2 (i.e specific updates after and updates pertinent to my hardware) because I reinstall windows about once/twice a year for a much needed clean out and having those updates at hand would save a lot of time and hassle.. I see that i am not the only person having problems with this security download. I have used the windows installer cleanup utility to uninstall the framework 1.1. I then went to the microsoft site and reinstalled net framework 1.1. It installed. Then i tried to install service pack 1. I keep getting the message that the patch package could not be opened. Can someone please tell me exactly what this net framework does? If I need it can someone please tell me how to get the service pacl 1 to open and install. Thanks
