Stretch cluster with Storage Replica not failing over
by Guest P___M- 0 replies
Hello! I have setup a 2016 stretch cluster between 2 sites, Dallas and Chicago. I am using a stretch vlan to allow the subnet to be shared between these nodes. The cluster setup seems to be good. I am also able to setup storage replication between the sites also with no issue and verify data is replicated. The problem is when I try to reverse replication or test failover from one site to the other. The failover never seems to recognize the cluster is stretched and tries to bring the Dallas volumes online in Chicago which is impossible. I can't find any information anywhere about this so posting here to see if any ideas. I have an open ticket with MS and they are…

Hi there, I already have windows server 2008 and 2003 domain controllers. since I added new domain controllers with windows server 2016 ( hoping to get rid off the old DCs, I have not removed them yet), different clients randomly have issues when users try to login. For windows server 2003 login it says: windows cannot connect to the domain, either because teh domain controller is down or otherwise unavialble... the issue is gone after running the following, but it might happen again: net stop netlogon net start netlogon looks like there is a dns issue, does any one know what the issue is? am I missing something here? BTW, s that the right foru…

Read Only Domain Controller
by Guest InfraMGT- 0 replies

Deal all, I have 2016 active directory and I have just performed the following: Built a new VM in the DMZ, and promoted it to Read Only Domain Controller. Created a new site for the DMZ network. Moved the newly created RODC to the DMZ site. Created a subnet that uses this DMZ Site. Is there anything else I need to do to allow servers in the DMZ to use the new RODC for authentication? Will having this RODC in the DMZ network allow for joining new servers that were built in the DMZ to the domain? Please don’t hold back on giving me any hints that you guys are aware of. Thanks in advanced HelpNeed Continue reading...

Hyper-V - Make Wifi Adapter as Wifi0 in Linux VM
by Guest Jjclay- 0 replies
Goal: Make a Linux vm see the virutal nic as wifi0 In Hyper-V, I made an Internal Virtual Switch. I created a Legacy Network Adapter for a Linux vm and set it to use the internal virtual switch. I then went to my Windows host machine and set the wireless nic card's properties to ICS sharing on the vSwitch adapter. (I did it with ICS because a network bridge solution seems unintuative or maybe not possible). Regardless, the Linux vm now sees 'Eth0' and yes does connect to the Internet. Here is the problem; I need to make the Linux vm see the 'eth0' vSwitch/ICS Connected Wireless NIC as: Wifi0. *note: i'm aware that in WSL you cannot connect wireless drivers to a…

by Guest Vinny Mittal- 0 replies

I have windows server 2016 installed on my office server. And the internet access & network sharing is obviously done through ethernet on the server. Unfortunately, I didn't have Wifi Adapter on my server, so I went ahead and bought an External USB Tp-Link Wifi Adapter for wireless connectivity. And I was wondering if I could share my Ethernet Connection over Wifi using this Adapter as well? Basically, I was thinking of making my server into a Wifi Hotspot? Is it possible? If it is, can someone tell me how it can be done? Thank you in advance. Continue reading...

Cant Boot System Server 2016 Standard
by Guest Stephen Bouffe- 0 replies

Hello, I'm in a spot of trouble with our system that has a BCD on boot. The system would boot and I could sign in but would always fail. Initially the stop error was showing bridge.sys irql_not_less_or_equal My best guess is that it was failing just as Hyper-V was starting all of the virtual machines. After lots of attempts to repair using the installation CD the system still wont boot. It starts the boot process but now has a different stop error code 0xc00002e2 I've also tried this Windows Server: How to Repair the Boot Files in Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2 if the Server Won't Boot | Dell UK I've booted in to a Ubuntu Live DVD and connected a USB …

May - October 2018 Cumulative Updates: SFC Integrity violation: NlsData0000.dll
by Guest Klaasklever- 0 replies
Installing the May 17 Cumulative Update for Server 2016 (OS Build 2273) leads to the "SFC /scannow" command attempting to repair the file "NlsData0000.dll" in the Windows - SysWOW64 directory. The repair is reported as "successful", but when running the command again, another repair is attemped. In other words: SFC /scannow never succeeds without integrity violations. Uninstalling the May 17 CU helps (reverting to April 10, 2018 Build 2189). No more integrity violations are shown after that. Reinstall the May 17 CU and voila, the error returns. Should be straightforward to reproduce (did so with two servers and a VM). Maybe the MS guys should have bother…
