I am having an issue with using task scheduler to update an Excel 2010 spreadsheet, specifically in asking that the job be run if the user is not logged on. The scheduled job is being run on a server with Windows Server 2016, each night just after midnight. No-one is logged on directly to the server at that time. When I check the task the following morning, it shows that it ran but none of the spreadsheets involved were updated - the data is the same and the last changed date/time has not changed to match the scheduled date/time.. If I change the run time and manually log on the server just before the new run time, the job executes correctly, presumably because I am …

Problem with SSL 3.0 disabed
by Guest mancio- 0 replies

Hello, on a Windows Server 2016 domain server, for security reasons the SSL 3.0 protocol on both the server and client side has been disabled. Once this was done, error events with ID 36874 started to appear: "An SSL 3.0 connection request was received from a remote client application, but none of the cipher suites supported by the client application are supported by the server. The TLS connection request has failed." These events disappear if the client-side SSL 3.0 and the cipher TLS_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA are re-enabled. From the details of the event I see that the lsass.exe process is involved, but I think that this is not the cause but that it is involv…

Hello, I have two virtualized Windows 2016 servers and they are file system, we are going to migrate the data from server1 to server2 both have the deduplication in the volumes activated, we use Robocopy to make the copy provision but at the end of the copy we verify that the files in Destination has a Size of 2MB and Size on Disk 0 bytes, which makes the copy incorrect. How can we make the data pass correctly using Robocopy? removing deduplication at destination is impossible since the size of the data would exceed the size assigned to the volume. thanks. Hi, I have gone through many resources for DNS and its stuffs. There are various stuffs in DNS like types of queries, records, zones, etc. Moreover, there are more details related to adding and editing records and zones. In real time scenario, I have seen as follows. One component of Windows Server 2016 i.e. Active Directory Users and Computers is widely used in most organizations. Be it system administrator, network administrator or IT admin; who looks or manages Windows Server 2016 in an organization mostly use Active Directory Users and Computers. Website access is mostly managed by a firewall and most of websites remain blocked in an organization using…

Unattended Windows Server 2016 fails..
by Guest tryllzhuud- 0 replies

Hi, I'm trying to autoinstall Windows Server 2016 and am using the following in the unattend file, however, it does not seem to be working. 1st I took the file from Windwsafg but that did not work as it first gave me a DiskConfiguration error for Partition setup, then I fixed that then I got a Product Key error. Then I took the unattend code from here https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/36609.windows-server-2016-unattended-installation.aspx This causes the following error Then I realized the code shown in the link above does not the DiskConfiguration tag, which I then got from the Windowsafg, once I add the complete DiskConfiguratio…

DTC Stopped working and no longer can be connected to
by Guest Neil M. Johnson- 0 replies

Our server has been running for 20 days in a row. On Wednesday morning DTC transactions no longer worked with the server. This has happened in the past, usually after Microsoft applies patches. It is a simple fix to change the settings back to what they should be and restart the DTC and everything works again. After the most recent set of changes, this is no longer the case. The Application starts a transaction, then connects to the SQL Server database (2008) on the server and gets the following message. This is happening on several machines that connect to the server running both Windows 7 and Windows 10. We have stopped and started the DTC on each local mac…

Since Windows Server 2016 i cannot understand the logic anymore for folder shares.. Problem on servers with Windows Server 2016: On the D drive on a Windows Server 2016 there are let's say a folder named folder1 and beneath it a folder named folder2. folder2 is not shared yet and in the security tab so NTFS rights are assigned to several security groups. So far so good. Now we share the folder and give everyone full rights on the share tab. Disable inheritance. When a user is trying to access the folder within a client machine in explorer \\servername\folder2 it can access the folder even when it is not in one of the groups in the security tab. How is this pos…

Druckerverwaltung: Lokale-Ports gelöscht nach Spooler neustart
by Guest Windows Server 2016 Druckerverwaltung Local-ports- 0 replies

Scheduled Task is being run multiple times at once
by Guest CoolDadTx- 0 replies

We have recently migrated from our legacy Server 2008 R2 server to Server 2016 with the latest updates as of Nov. We run a lot of scheduled tasks that run various times of day - some fixed, some on an interval. We have 3 environments (dev, QA, Prod) and 3 identically configured servers except memory. On all these new servers we are seeing Task Scheduler try to run our interval tasks multiple times at once. It doesn't seem to have an issue for tasks that run at a fixed time. For example we have a job that runs every minute. Whenever the job triggers it takes about 8 seconds to run. In the task history we can see that at the point Scheduler started the task it tried to r…

When trying to enter IP address in RSAT failover cluster manager in Windows 10 - the font is messed up and you can only enter xx.xx.xx.xx not xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx for IP address which doesn't make things easy. The same font is working fine if I do it through the FCM on Server 2016... Hyper-V CORE 2016: updates hanging :(
by Guest rotech8- 0 replies

Does anyone know how to bring these back to normal health? I've been running Hyper-V core 2012 servers the last five years, and they have been ROCK SOLID, never any issues. Recently began the process of retiring the hardware, and have installed Hyper-V Core 2016 on the new hardware. Windows update worked fine on them last month. Sadly, windows recommended updates are now HANGING ( running overnight, can't complete!!) . I believe it was the latest servicing stack, and security rollup for dec 2019 that is stuck. It seems that the only well-documented-online cure is to use CMupdateReset.exe tool, but that is not included with the installation of server core ( the i…

Existing PTR Records Not Found - rDNS Failure
by Guest MicrosoftSuperFanMan- 0 replies

At first I thought my hosting company had failed to add a rDNS entry for my IP address but now I don't know what to think. I have an A record with a corresponding PTR record but whenever I check the IP for a PTR on MxToolBox or anything else it cannot be found. The A record in the copblaster.com forward lookup zone has the following values: Name: server, Type: Host A, Data 185.164.72.225 The Reverse Lookup Zone 72.164.185.in-addr.arpa has the following PTR record: Name: 185.164.72.225, Type: PTR Data: server.copblaster.com To make sure there is no conflict with other PTR records I deleted the rest. I had been creating PTR records automatically whenever ad…

This is on a RDS2016 machine. Recently, they migrated from RDS2008 R2 to RDS2016. On the 2008 server, it worked fine (notifications were on) but our RDS2016 server this application is missing under Notifications. Any idea how to fix this? We're kind of stuck here, software developer says it's propably something on the local server. Couldn't find anything about this issue. Thanks in advance!] Niels Continue reading...
