defragment

If Vista's defragment runs as a service, how does one disable it, or turn it
off? I went to task manager and looked at all the services but could not
find defragment. Does it have another name in task manager?

A mix-up of instructions I suspect. Task 'Scheduler' is where you need to
look - in the 'Defrag' folder

Click the Start button and in the Search box type Defrag. At the top of the
search box, under programs, you should see 'Disk defragmenter', Click on
this to open disk defragmenter. In the disk defragmenter window you should
see two button Modify Schedule and Defragment Now. If you look in the
section where the Modify Schedule Button is you will see a box on the left
hand side with a tick in it. The option says 'Run on a Schedule
(recommended)' Remove the tick from the box and the scheduled run will be
disabled.
