Windows 98 wont play youtube videos

I am able to play YouTube video/audio in Windows XP SP2 but NOT in Windows
98 SE!
Is it NOT designed such as Skype which requires a minimum of Windows 2000?
Is there any patch that requires to be downloaded and installed?

I play YouTube videos fine in Win 98 SE using Opera 9.22, and
Flash player 9,0,16,0.

To my knowledge, I installed Opera and Flash player long ago and
they and youtube just worked.

The only trick I know of is sometimes it takes multiple clicks
to get it arted.

I recall some statements on the youtube site that you needed WMP
10. With 98 I have only WMP 9 but it seems to work.

I just wanted to mention briefly that Windows Media Player 9 is the last and
latest Windows Media Player that supports 98SE. Windows Media Player 10
supports XP but not 98SE.

Are you on dial-up? If so can you play videos on other sites, without
them hesitating every once in a while. I couldn`t play videos well at
all until I went to cable.

I already have WMP 9.0 and now I have installed Adobe Flash Player 9.0 and
even after that the same problem crops up. I have a Broadband connection at
speeds upto 2Mbps. It is NOT so much that I want to play videos as to
listening to music of my choice!

Does some adjustment needs to be done in Multimedia? There is a break in the
audio every 5-10 seconds!
Thanking you

How fast is your processor?

If you have an old computer, you may not have enough horsepower
to decode a flash stream and play it at the same time. Flash
decoding seems to be cpu intensive, as is playing

As a work around, when using a slow comptuer, I click pause in
the flash player and let it download and then click play to play
the downloaded file.

Heck, I can play YouTube videos using IE 5.5. Just make sure you have
Flash player installed. I can also use one of the latest vers of
Firefox.

Now as for the content of garbage on YouTube, no comment !!!!

I play YouTube videos on dialup. I just shut off the sound and do
something else while they load, then hit REPLAY. It often takes and
hour for them to download.
