Update Problems

The last 2 times I received a Vista update (home premium edition) it broke my
Outlook software. When I launched the program it stated "Outlook is not your
default email program" even though it is set that way in Program Defaults.
When I tried to send or receive mail, I received a "Not Implemented" error. I
had to insert the Office Professional CD, launch Setup, and select "Repair".
The program ran for about 10 minutes, then required a reboot. After that
Outlook ran ok. Am I the only one having this problem? Is MS aware of this?
Can or will they fix it?

Can't offer much help, but can commiserate. Have a similar problem in that
Windows updates often (but not always) trigger a failure in Outlook that
requires that i reinsert the Office 2007 disk and run "repair". That usually
fixes it, but sometimes I also need to go to a previous System Restore point.
Huge pain in the a--, and can only assume that MSFT is aware of the problem.

Thanks Bill at least I am not the only one, but am surprised at the lack of
more responses. You would think thousands of people would have the same
problem.

I never suggested we do away with updates I'm curious that a repeating
pattern of problems with recent updates has not been addressed.

I was an earlier adopter of Vista knowing full welll I would be subject to a
series of fixes (from my experience with every other new OS), but I am not
accustomed to having updates break things.

Is all I'm saying.
