This version of Windows is not genuine.

Purchased Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade beginning of March after official
launch. Have been trying to install my Logitech Pro 3000 Webcam. Was directed
to Logitech and downloaded the file. When it came to plug in and turn on
power to webcam Plug and play came and I was not able to install Driver
Software. Disabled Plug and play and tried again seemed to be okay. System
re-booted but got a message saying Windows Vista Ultimate Build 6000, this
version is not genuine. Have tried everything I know and called Microsoft
support. Was told to take it back to where I bought it and they would give me
a new key. This is not an OEM version. Any help please.

Shut down Internet Explorer. Then restart IE with administrator privileges.
Then go to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/default.aspx and click on
start diagnostics.

Run both Vista and Office checks. When once you have validated WGA under
administrator privileges you will have no other problems - hopefully!

Did as you said and signed on Internet Explorer as Administrator the ran the
Windows Calidation check. Checked out okay, then ran winver and confirmed
that it was licensed to me. Right clicked Computer and got the following at
bottom of window. Windows activation. 2 day(s) until automatic activation,
activate account now. Product # and change Product key.

You should be able to activate it online, if not, use telephone activation
and explain the situation.

Good info. Of course, it's disgusting that he should have to go thru
this...
