Error 1058 Userenv

I get this error only after a weekly reboot. Is there a process not loading
up before hand? should I be concerned about this? Is it updating at other
times during the week?

Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO
CN={6AC1786C-016F-11D2-945F-00C04fB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=mydomain,DC=com.
The file must be present at the location
<\\mydomain.com\sysvol\mydomain.com\Policies\{6AC1786C-016F-11D2-945F-00C04fB984F9}\gpt.ini>.
(The network path was not found. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

Is it a workstation or domain controller and what OS are you using. If DC,
is it also DNS server? Do you have any other event viewer errors?

Thanks for the quick reply.
It is a DC and also DNS server. Running Server 2003 SP1 with all patches
applied except SP2.

There are 2 other errors that occur at the same time during the reboot
process.
This one before it:

Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. (The system detected a
possible attempt to compromise security. Please ensure that you can contact
the server that authenticated you. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

And this one after it:

Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. Check the event
log for possible messages previously logged by the policy engine that
describes the reason for this.

there anything in particular that you are looking for?
Is there a way to pull out all of the events to notepad or something for
easy posting?

Ofcourse i am talking about the both error ones where wrote about the posting
before. If you click the 2 paper button int he right down corner of the event
you can directly paste it into the posting.

Oh, ok well I can make this very easy, those are the only 3 errors I get, and
they only happen at reboot that happens automatically once a week.
This happens to be the PDC Emulator. the other DCs in the domain are the
same service pack and patch level as this one, they are all also DNS servers
and none of them get this error, just this one.

Hello Dale,

Can you open and access the sysvol and netlogon share on the DC? Also you
should run diagnostics against the DC. See here how to:

From another posting.

If you don't have the support tools installed, install them from your server
install disk.
d:\support\tools\setup.exe

Run dcdiag, netdiag and repadmin in verbose mode.
-> DCDIAG /V /C /D /E /s:yourdcname > c:\dcdiag.log
-> netdiag.exe /v > c:\netdiag.log (On each dc)
-> repadmin.exe /showrepl dc* /verbose /all /intersite > c:\repl.txt
-> dnslint /ad /s "ip address of your dc"

**Note: Using the /E switch in dcdiag will run diagnostics against ALL dc's
in the forest. If you have significant numbers of DC's this test could generate
significant detail and take a long time. You also want to take into account
slow links to dc's will also add to the testing time.

If you download a gui script I wrote it should be simple to set and run (DCDiag
and NetDiag). It also has the option to run individual tests without having
to learn all the switch options. The details will be output in notepad text
files that pop up automagically.

Just select both dcdiag and netdiag make sure verbose is set. (Leave the
default settings for dcdiag as set when selected)

When complete search for fail, error and warning messages.
