I use Media Player Classic, VLC player, and Zoom Player Pro.

I have never understood the various combinations of these
programs that play particular videos. It is like playing a
game of cards and you never know what you will draw. I long ago
gave up on the idea of just using one player program. VLC seems
to be the most self contained.

Zoom Player needs ffdshow and various splitters. However, once
you have everything, I like it better. It has played some
videos that vlc didn't. However it does not use a standard
windows window with an active window border and I frequently key
keys before reliazing that my keystrokes are not going to it.

MPC loads quickly and uses a standard interface.

I find I need all three.

Media Player Classic does not support FLV file format.
I installed Sothink FLV Player, works good.

is there some standalone players which can be used to play flash from
CDROM?(FLV player burned on CD with flv files)

flv files play fine on my system with MPC and ffdshow.

I heard ffdshow codec pack installation may heavy reconfigure system
performance they will screw up video, sound and performance.

That has not been my experience. I have no problems that I can
relate to ffdshow.
