How to get rid of an unwanted homepage?

A

Alana

Somehow or other, while browsing, my wife accepted some kind of download
from a site called websecurity.com. Apparently, their ad came up as a pop
up, saying that our computer was under some kind of virus threat. As a
result, settings have been changed, making this site our homepage and we are
unableto change it. Tried going to internet options but cannot change
homepageand or get rid of their icon on our toolbar
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Alana

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

analysis, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
