WindowsXP not seeing second drive!!??

E

Ed Jay

I have two hard drives divided into five (C - G) and three (H - J)
partitions, respectively. There are two installations of XP, one on C and
the other on G.

I've had issues with the installation on C. I formatted C in preparation
for reinstalling XP. Partitions D - G on Drive 0 are untouched, as are the
partitions on Drive 1.

When I attempt to install XP, it reports partitions C, E, F, G, but with
'D' reported as an unformatted partition. XP install does not see the 2nd
drive at all. I installed XP, and the 2nd drive is missing.

I can see the 2nd drive from within the XP installation on G, and I can
see it from DOS.

Help! What do I do to recover my drive information?

Why do you want more than one WindowsXP installation? Especially on
the same hard drive?

One is the primary OS for my machine, the other is a test bed.

Update: I disconnected the 2nd drive. When I tried to install XP, it
reports partitions C, E, F, G, H. I installed XP, and then connected the
second drive. Went through the 'Found new hardware,' but even though I see
the 2nd drive in Device Mgr, I still can't see the drive operationally.
