TS Licensing & Expired Device CAL's

Hi There,

I hope that I am posting to the right group I seem to be having a problem
with TS Licensing when it comes to the licensing service clearning out
expired CAL tokens.

I have a TS Licensing service activated with 700 per device CAL's. We do
get a fair amount of churn in the desktop environment so this problem does
occur occasionally.

the only thing that gets logged is a TermServLicensing warning with event id
21 (below). Looking at the issued CAL tokens at this point will display a
number that have expired. Restarting the TS Licensing service will clear out
the expired CAL tokens, albeit not immediately.

Has anybody else seen this happen? Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Hi Muzz,

Sorry, I couldn't understand what issue you are facing.

Is it that you are left with no CALs or your expired CALs are not getting
back to the database?
What I could only make out from your mail was that when you restart the
service then after some interval of time the expired CALs get reclaimed.
This is expected as the expired CALs are supposed to get back to the license
server database. But this reclamation happens only once a day. If you want
to explicitly initialize the reclamation then you need to restart the
service and within 3-4 minutes the reclamation starts.

And about the Event ID, when does that event ID comes? Were you trying to
install a new CAL Pack?

Hi Silvia, Thanks for your response - the problem is that the expired CAL's
are not going back into the pool of availavle CAL's. This article from Vera

That's great, thanks Vera. The service is restarted on a weekly basis but I
will make this a daily occurance.
