After restoring an old W2K installation on Drive C (in order to repair a
broken wireless connection - possibly a winsock problem), I find that the
wireless connection appears roughly every other restart. How can I make it
more reliable?

Thanks

Is it plugged into a slot? Is the slot driver successfully started? Check
the manufacturer's web site the for the latest drivers for both devices.

It's plugged into a USB slot. Is that the type of slot you mean? How do I
find out if it is successfully started?

Yes.

I downloaded the latest driver and the device hardly worked at all. It seems
to work much better with the original CD driver installation.

Yes, I'd go back to the original driver then. You can choose to Update
driver from within Device Management and choose 'Have Disk' option.
