Hi All,

What is the recommended way to configure a paging file on a Windows2008
Server? System managed or Custom?

Thanks,
Zoey

In the past, when there were many leaky applications, I would set it to
Custom, exactly 1.5 times the installed memory (custom size=maximum size).
Today I leave it as default (system managed).

On some Virtual Machines, I remove it from C: and place it on dedicated
paging partition (reduces the image for copying over the network).

Thanks for the reply. There are many theories on this. This is on a virtual
machine. we have a vmware environment. I would love to move this paging file
off the "C" drive, but things that i've read from reliable authors strongly
suggest not to do this and I believe the system will yell a little. I know
you may say that it does not hurt, that this is only for diagnostcs, but what
if I did this? (1) Kept paging file on C. (2) create another paging file on
its own dedicated logical drive. Would this help resolve the memory leak?

Thanks again for your suggestions.
