Bandwidth Monitoring

Dragon

Hi,

I wanted to find out if there is a free/close to free utility that I can use
on my remote site to monitor bandwidth utilization between remote site and
central site. Essentially, I am not interested in see remote site systems
surfing the web etc. I simply want to monitor how much data is being
transfered to a particular IP address.

I am trying to find out what my bandwidth requirements are for an
application. Central site is using Windows server 2003 while remote site is
on XP.

Thank you.

Do your routers support NetFlow Data Export? If they do, take a look at
setting up a NetFlow collector. (Think a form of network sniffer in line.)

Have you considered any thing like Etherial / WireShark to capture
packets for later analysis / bandwidth consumption calculation?
