Make my network faster

Marco

Hi,

There's any kind of check list that we could follow in order to allow/make
our windows network based to run faster?

Maybe, there's something that I could improve in my windows 2000 std server
to make it run faster.

Any help is very appreciatted.

Thanks,
Marco

What is happening on your network that causes you to want to "speed" it up?

Hi,

You know when there's times when your pcs, even if it's brand new stops when
you're in a shared server folder?

When you've got a software that takes a lot of time to run.

Imagine excel, how can we make it open faster the excel files that are saved
in a shered server folder?

Those king of stuff.

Thanks,
Marco

From what you've described here, add memory to the server and clients,
upgrade the processors.
I would start with adding memory.

What are the specs on the win2K server? I have some very old machines still
on win2k server, and running Diskeeper on them seems to make a difference.
