smart card removal problem

Huwy

Hi,

I'm current experimenting with using smartcards with our windows-based shop
computers. They connect to a windows 2008 terminal server to run our bespoke
"till" application.

The shop staff enter a smartcard and this automatically takes them into
terminal server. When they remove the smartcard it should then disconnect
them.

On the terminal server I have set the "local security - local policy -
security options: Interactive logon:smart card removal behaviour -
disconnect if a remote terminal services session"

The problem I'm having is that this all works fine for the inital logon and
disconnection - i.e. by putting in the smart card and then removing it. I
can then reconnect fine, but when I remove the smartcard I don't get
disconnected. On any subsequent connections I'm not disconnected when the
smart card is removed.

Can anyone help with this issue? Cheers in advance,

H

Which Operating Systems are being used when connecting to the Windows Server
2008 Terminal Server?

Thanks for coming back Jeff.

The Clients run Windows XPe.

This is a known issue with these platforms and there is no known workaround.
If your organization has a support contract with Microsoft, I suggest going
through those channels if you wish to pursue a hotfix.

Thanks.
