CAL Information is missing

Robin

I have 63 CAL in my Server 2003 Standard. But recently I just found that all
the CAL I've added all the while is missing. As I checked in Administrative
Tools --> Licensing, the Purchase History record is blank.

Anyone know what is happening and how do I retrieve it back? Or do I need to
re-add back all my CAL that I've purchased? Thx

Hello robin,

It doesn't sound that you are talking about TS client access licenses(only
ones with a real license server control), so for all other licensing there
is no control added from MS to the OS versions. The license logging service
implemented in the system never worked as expected because to much options
exist and can't be controlled in a good manner.

So control the amount of licenses according to your users/machines/applications
manual and make sure to have the correct amount of them and you are able
to show the correct papers if controlled form MS.

Best regards

Thanks Meinolf Weber. Indeed, I'm not refering to TS CAL. So, I guess I can
just manually re-add back my purchased license then. But since it doesn't
affect anything on the system, I can just leave it blank right as long as I
have my paper license?

Regards,
Robin

Hello robin,

I never used this way in our environments and also the licensse logging service
is set to disabled so this window doesn't open.

I usually set the number of licenses to the correct number. The license
logging service should be disabled. It has never worked properly. In
fact, with Server 2003, the default during installation seems to be to
turn it off....

You're right about keeping documentation. That is what will pass an audit.
