2008 R2 RDP

Hello. I had a win 2003 server that was also a rdp server for remote access
to the network. configuring it as rdp was easy. i had to install Terminal
Server Licensing and Terminal Server and add my rdp CAL's
Now i have a win 2008 R2, but a bit confused configuring it. access to the
rdp server will be only by vpn and not over internet. I installed Remote
Desktop Session Host and Remote Desktop Licensing. I activated the server
and added the two rdp cal's i have.
But when a client tries to connect i get "The requested session access is
denied"
First question if i need to install aditional RDP roles (win2008 has 6 rdp
roles).
Second question is if the cal's i have are valid for 2008. they were issued
using open license for 2003 Terminal srv.

Thanks in advance, Peter

sorry, i solved the "The requested session access is denied". my mistake.
now when i go to "Remote Desktop Session Host Cofiguration", i see that
Remote Desktop license servers=None.
But Licensing Manager shows the computer with a green check box (activated)
and can see the 2 rdp CAL's i added.
any ideas?

The license Type should be listed in terminal server licensing. You need
Server 2008 licenses to connect to a server 2008 server. Note that the
system should still issue the 2 built in licenses (for administrators), and
it will issue temporary licenses to any new device connecting.
