[GREENHORN]

Trying to run previous played programs. Error message occurred. Said
"WinG32.DLL in C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory. Move to C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32
directory".

That's fine and dandy, but HOW DOES ONE DO THAT???!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

If you have never copied a file and cannot figure out to copy a file
then it is time to visit your local library to read a Windows dummies
book.

Exactly the same way as accessing any other file. You HAVE tried opening
Windows Explorer I trust?

I should imagine that many people turn to this forum having spent many a
frustrating hour trying to find the correct information to enable them to
resolve problems with their computers.
Like me, they may have thought that this would be a 'user/novice
friendly environment.
It is ignorant and facetious comments such as yours, that make the
'computing experience' even more miserable.
So sad for you - that you have nothing better to do than belittle
others who are seeking to increase their technical knowledge.

You access files in the systems directories the same way you access
any other files. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the desired
place, or open a command console (DOS box) and navigate to the desired
place that way. There's no special procedure for system files.

1. Make sure you can see all hidden files and folders (View tab in
Folder Options). In XP, there are four checkboxes to deal with:

a. Check "Display the contents of system folders".
b. Check "Show hidden files and folders".
c. Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".
d. Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and click "OK" to the
dialog box.

2. Now that you can see everything, go to My Computer and double-click
on your C:\ drive. Navigate to:
C:\Windows\System. Once there, leave that window open.

3. Go to My Computer again and double-click on your C:\ drive. Navigate to:
C:\Windows\System32. Once there, leave that window open.

You will now have two windows open. To make things even easier, if you
do not have the addressbar showing, go to View>Toolbars and put a check
next to the addressbar. This will help you see where you are in the file
system.

4. In the System folder window, locate WinG32.DLL. Right-click it and,
still holding down the right mouse button, drag it over to the System32
folder. Let go of the right mouse button and you'll get a context menu.
Choose "Copy" - *not* "Move". Now you will have the WinG32.DLL file
where it belongs. You can then go back to the System folder and delete
the WinG32.DLL file if desired.

didn't know cap locks means shouting since this is the first time using a
"chat" area. (Not everyone can race out to the library at 11pm to get books
for dummies.....greenhorns, like me.)

I think you need to be less thin-skinned but I can see why you were

but I'd like to suggest a really good web forum owned by MVP Patty
McDuffie. It is www.computerhaven.info and it is just for people like
you. All the people there are very kind and caring and want to help you.
