Faxing from Outlook/Entourage through Exchange SBS 2003

D

David Leon

I have an SBS 2k3 server. It has a two line Brooktrout fax modem. I have it
configured to where incoming faxes are emailed to specific users. I would
now like for users to be able to fax to third parties using the Brooktrout,
and Entourage/Outlook. I use Exchange for email, on the network.

I have yet to figure this out. Per the directions, I have tried using the
suggested format of:

[fax:2145551212]

On the Mac Entourage machines, I just get a bounce error. On Mac Mail, it
refuses to send it out.

On the XP machines, it tries to send using local modems, not the Brooktrout
hanging off the SBS server.

I'm sure I'm missing something completely obvious. Please help!

Hello David,

Sounds for me like a problem with the vendor from Brooktrout fax modem software
and not MS itself.

Meinolf,

I agree with you at first looks of the problem as stated. However, let's
send this to the SBS group (cross-posted) to see if anyone there has
experience using Brooktrout with this type of setup.

I would just contact Brooktrout support and ask them the question.

That would seem the better course of action.
