Can I get rid of the pop-up details box in file listings?

In Windows Explorer and other situations where directories and files are

displayed, I find it most convenient to have the File View set to "list".

When the cursor is rested on any individual filename, a pop-up box appears

giving the file type, size, date last modified and similar. Is it possible

to turn this feature off?

Many thanks,

Bert

Once Windows Explorer starts (I assume that happens when one clicks

'Computer' and accesses the C drive, but if it isn't, open Windows Explorer

from the accessories menu) and then a folder, one of the items on the menu

bar is 'Tools'. Click that and look though the settings - one of them is a

check box to enable/disable tooltips on folders and files..

Incidentally, if you keep the tooltips, you can also decide which info items

you want them to show.
