On April 29th, the Long Term Support version of Ubuntu will be released,

a release that Mark Shuttleworth devoted all his time to so that Ubuntu

will finally shoot Windows out of the proverbial window. Get it at

http://www.ubuntu.com/ You'll be glad you did.

I better book my holidays to avoid the scramble for this wonderful tool

which you guys have been talking about for months!

Can you explain to me what exactly does it do? Why is there so much

"hot air" about it on this newsgroup where people are supposed to

discuss Windows 7 problems and workarounds?

Well there is one "troll" who posts a lot of pro-Linux. He is mostly

harmless and keeps it up cause it gets under the skin of one or more (may

all be the same person, or a couple nymshifting to appear like many) who

really need to get over it.

I just keep killfiling them as they popup.

It's really nothing more than that.

It does pretty much everything that most people would want or need to do.

But without 'activation', insane licensing, cost or malware infestations.

Perhaps a better question is "what does it do that 10.9 didn't do?"

From a quick look at the "new Stuff" entry on the Ubuntu web site it:

Uses a new version of Gnome but doesn't tell us what version it is.

Remembering the cries if Woe and the scramble to re-install the

previous stable version when KDE issued the New, Better, version a

year, or so ago, I'll opt out.

Uses Linux Kernel 2.6.32 and remember this is a Beta version. I

currently use Linux Kernel 2.6.31 in a stable installation.

Firefox and Google is out and Yahoo is in. you use it, I'll stay with

Google - I know that it works.

Twitter seems to be a part of the New Ubuntu - if nothing else a

rather good reason not to use it.

Wow, Ubuntu now has a music store where one may PURCHASE the latest

music. sort of a change from open source, what?

I could go on but the above should be sufficient for anyone who is

interested and probably too much for those who aren't :)

So if what you say is true, then Ubuntu would have taken over the desktop by

now. Imagine, a FREE OS that does what everyone needs, has no activation or

cost or malware, yet people still reject it. I wonder why? Maybe you are

lying when you say that Ubuntu does most everything that people need.

Maybe all those people out there who have tried Ubuntu and wiped it clean,

came up with a different conclusion then you did? Could it be?

Anyway, it really doesn't matter what you and your sock puppet Alias say.

The FACT of the matter is Ubuntu is just a blip on the desktop radar, has

been for years and will continue to be. No matter what you two IDIOTS say.

Pan runs under Ubuntu.

So does Firefox.

And Thunderbird.

There's 3 things right there.

I'm also guessing that anything that can be done using whatever

version of Linux your headers claim you to be using, can also be

done under Ubuntu also.

When idiots like you stop lying, it will be easier to promote Ubuntu.

Course, you're so scared shitless that Windows will be replaced by Linux

that you feel you have to LIE at *every* opportunity.

So in your warped mind, Frank and I are the cause of Ubuntu not getting

better marketshare? HA HA HA HA HA - That's a good one Alias. How many

BOWLS of Hash have you had today? You certainly are very FUCKED UP! LOL!

News to Alias: Ubuntu will still be a piece of SHIT 5 years from now.

Oops.

I am not scared that Windows will be replaced by Linux. Ever. If you look

at past history and how Linux has "increased marketshare", it will be 50

years in the future before Linux gets 3% of the desktops out there!!!!
