Which xbuntu should I pick? You mean there are choices? LOL!

H

Should I use Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, or Edubuntu? What's the difference?

Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Edubuntu are all the same Linux distro using

the same base, the same software repositories, and the same release cycle.

They just have different artwork, different user interfaces (in most cases),

and different default programs installed.

So you are telling me that I can install different versions because of some

idiotic artwork and user interfaces? Why aren't they all included in one

stinking OS? No wonder why Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, or Edubuntu are piles

of SHIT!

Very confusing to the new user. Oops.

Different default programs installed? How do I know which default programs

I need? Maybe I should install all versions and each time I boot, switch to

see which default programs I need. You know, Ubuntu is free so this

shouldn't take but 36 hours or so.

No wonder why so many people ditch Ubuntu once they try it. Ubuntu really

sucks.

You could certainly do that, but a person with room temperature IQ would

know what 'default' means and how to simply, quickly and easily install

the programs he wanted that were not included by default.

BTW - you can also easily install the packages that make those variants

(I don't consider them to be distinct distributions) so you can choose

which interface you want at login time - not boot time.

FWIW - I've never known anyone to try Linux and go back to MS. They do,

though, sometimes move to a different distribution.

I can see how that would be nearly as confusing as selecting a win7:

beginning, home, business, ultimate 32bit or 64bit upgrade or full?

To clarify things here, those are not the choices (only one of them,

Ultimate, is). Here's the complete list:

Starter

Home Basic

Home Premium

Professional

Ultimate

Enterprise.

And to customers in the USA buying a copy, the only available choices

on the list are Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate.

So Mr. Brilliant, which one would you install? Without researching all

those INFERIOR versions, how do you know which DEFAULT programs are

included? Isn't the install just a click? Aren't the "default" programs

installed by default? Come on now Mr. Brains, which is it? You only wish

your IQ could reach room temperature! LOL!

I knew you would say something stupid like that. Of course you won't admit

it. I am sure you don't know most of the inhabitants on the planet do you?

I'll bet you don't know 99.999% of the people in Los Angeles or Ventura

County, California. You sure are an idiot.

No wonder, you use Ubuntu!!!!

Hey dipshit - With Windows 7 any version, you get the same default programs.

You don't have to research with cryptic program gets installed. Do I use

GIMP or not use GIMP! LOL!

I would not necessarily choose any version of ubuntu - it would depend on

what I was trying to accomplish on what platform. One recent install I

did was the wife's netbook - I did a Debian net install.

I guess you still don't understand the concept of 'default', so I won't

try to explain it again.
