When win 2000 updates the icon disappears. Is there a command to make the

icon re-appear to install the updates?

Do you mean the desktop unloads? Sounds explorer.exe crashed for some

reason. You might try unloading any unknown extensions.

No, it seems whenever win 2000 downloads updates, the little blue icon

disappears until I re-boot. After a while it will then re-appear saying

you have updates ready to install. I'm using the option, download

updates but let me choose when to install them.
