Daylight Savings Time Update for Win ME

O

O.J. Newman

Hello:

Earlier this week, I downloaded and installed an update from MS to account
for the new Daylight Savings Time end date for my Win XP SP2 PC.

However, does MS provide such an update for Win ME, now that it is out of
support?

How can one have Win ME automatically adjust for the new Daylight Savings
Time start and end dates?

Has anyone come up with a 3rd-party update?

Thanks in advance.

It doesn't. That is the meaning of "out of support".

There is no need, you can use the freely available tool that Microsoft has
provided for the last ten years or so, this is called TZEdit.

You can download a copy of TZEdit from
http://www.softshape.com/download/tzedit.zip. Extract the three files
from the zip to a folder on your desktop. then run tzedit and select your
time zone from the drop down box. Hit edit and it will show the offset
from GMT and the current start and stop dates/days for DST. Edit to match
the new ones for your location and click OK to save. You must reboot after
you have changed the settings for them to take effect.

Ah, the Microsoft download for TZEdit is
http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/8/a/58a208b7-7dc7-4bc7-8357-28e29cdac52f/tzedit.exe

Or just set the auto DST change to off (they changed dates)
and reset the computer clock twice a year when you
run around the house moving clocks forward or back..

As they say, John, there's more than one way to skin a cat.
It always is good to have more than one option.
